In 2009 my mother's elderly husband got phone baited. Even though it was obvious (to me), mum's husband was a little bit dementia and no matter what we did, kept getting scammed. In the end, we had to close off all his access to money. That was after he'd gifted $5000 to these 'lads'.
At the time I worked very close to the the most senior law enforcement officers in the country, but was pretty much advised that there was nothing they could do. yes, i worked alongside the people in my country who were tasked with policing this. and failed to do anything. Unbelievable.
Then i found Eater.
I read a few of the baits and had a few laughs. It's obvious that Eater contributes more than Government can.
7 years later ...
Now my home phone is getting baited again. No issue of falling for it, but I remembered the fine work done on this site and dropped a lazy US$10 donation and signed up.
Probably won't bait myself, but good luck to all who do!
