Hi, everyone! (Who remembers and/or knows of me.)
I would love to say I've returned, as in RETURNED FOR GOOD, but as shown over the past 6 years or so, my health is such a shaky thing (40+ years of diabetes catching up with me, in a nutshell) that I can't guarantee it.
I was listening to lots of tech-support scammers being messed with in YouTube videos last week, and some of the methods/techniques being used and, more importantly, being abused reminded me very much of what we do here.
When I say "abused" I refer to things like some of the YouTubers educating the tech-support scammers about mistakes they'd made. My immediate reaction was, of course, "Don't educate the lads!"
Anyway, that led to me wondering about this place and if my username still existed. It did, and here I am.
I've just sent off about 10 replies to emails I picked up from the surplus forum and, hopefully, Monday will see a lot of those seeds start to develop.[1]
In the intervening years since I was last a presence here, I've picked up a few other time-consuming pastimes, so I'm going to require some reorganization in my free time to fit everything in. With any luck, participation here won't be on a low priority as it has been for far too many years.
[1] Sunday still looks like it's the slowest day of the week for replies. I've had zero replies where, on a non-Sunday, I would have expected at least 1 or 2 to have come back in the time so far. Nice to see some things can still be relied on. |
