So I just came a cross a lad posting an ad in a guns for sale forum.. its actually been going around for a couple years and the ATF has bulletins out on it. Post is for an NFA / Class 3 firearm, so purchaser has to wait for ATF form approval unlike purchasing a regular handgun or rifle in the USA. This sort of form wait is normally 90-180 days and applies to machine guns, silencers, short barreled shotguns, etc.
So the lad posts an ad, says he has a transferrable machine gun (extremely high value in the US), on a form 4 ( this part is critical, Ill explain later), and its listed for about half of what the gun really sells for, in order to get tons of bites. Transferrable machine guns in the US start at around $5k for what would be an otherwise $300 gun, and go up into 6 figures for one firearm depending on what it is, so its SUPER easy for a lad to bait someone over a few grand because thats actually small change in the NFA industry.
I received a great trophy within 5 minutes of conversation, an altered ATF form 4 with stamp (pathetically altered btw). He even used the EXACT same form the ATF sampled in thier alert to dealers recently...
Now this one will be difficult because he obviously knows how the ATF/NFA works with regards to these types of transfers. He's asking for the appropriate info from a Class 3 dealer to "transfer the weapon" which will never happen, but since its Sunday, and banks, my gun dealer is closed, Ive offered to WU/MG the money to him to hold the firearm. Id hate to lose out on a $15k gun for $8k because someone paid faster
Ill keep yall posted, and maybe get a few more trophies.. |
