My childrens' crossing guard told me about a man she "met" this morning. He's a "contractor in Nigeria" and has sucked her in and gotten her to send money more than once through moneygram. She's a crossing guard, you know she doesn't make much money! I'd love to bait the jerk but having never done it before I'd love it if one or more of you great people (I love reading the threads here!) could put the screws to him. I've edited your post to remove the address. I am sorry about your friend, but we don't post just an email address as evidence. We've had too many people trying to get even with ex's, bosses etc.

The best thing would be to get your friend to visit ScamWarners, our sister site, that specializes in victims. She can google the letters he sends etc. and maybe obtain some help.

That makes sense, I'm sure there are some that would just like to screw a boss or true boyfriend/girlfriend. She won't believe that he's not who he says he is and I don't have any of his emails but just the quotes she told me and reasons for needing the money are too exactly what I've seen these guys tell you all that I'm 99.99% sure he's a scammer. If I email him and start getting the same lines I'll be sure to post them at scamwarners. She's given so much money to him already and I know she doesn't have the extra money to be giving away like that....

Amusedgal, if you do bait this scammer please do not do so from any current email account-open a new one in Gmail or Hotmail with NONE of your real info. We take baiting safely seriously.

Can you convince your friend to google the email address? There's at least one scam report linked to it.

I've told her to google the email address (I'm guessing you saw the same result I did on it), told her to look here and scamwarners for similar phrases and speaking styles, I'm getting to where I can tell the scam emails I get are written by West Africans just from reading the posts here and seeing how they typically phrase things! And don't worry, I've been looking at the baits here and there is no way I'll do anything without setting up something that isn't linked to the real me!

You're a good friend to go the extra mile and help her see that she's being scammed. Sometimes victims just don't want to believe it. Love lads are the bottom of the pit, IMHO. They take more than money, they take the core of a person and smash it into a trillion pieces.

Get as much evidence as possible and then find some time to sit with her and show her what you've found out. It's going to hurt, and she's going to need a friend to help her pick up the pieces. Perhaps, for now, don't go on about knowing he's a scammer, she doesn't want to hear that and you may just push her away. Just quietly listen and when you have the evidence, take her somewhere private and reveal of what you found.
