I believe that Lebanon is predominately Sunni as is Nigeria. Both countries practice Sharia Law in some shape or form but the Lebanon ruling seems to have been made in a secular court.

Word to the wise. This thread is a tinderbox of potential forum rule violations, tread lightly. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a preemptive lock.

Edit: Upon checking Lebanon is equally split between Shia Islam and Sunni Islam, but still is predominantly Muslim.

I saw this yesterday. It makes me wonder if scammers could baited into something that appears to be homosexual and then punished by law over there more easily than by being punished under the 419 criminal code.

F***ed up state of justice, but hey when it comes to protesting human rights lads make excellent fodder. Laughing

on if one should try to cause said alleged scammers into doing something that is perceived to be homosexual to get them 20 lashes.

There are plenty of "human rights anthorneys" in West Africa to fight for their rights, I'm sure. Seems every Lad lawyer claims that distinction.

While I find these laws and the lads equally despicable, I would not want to cause the death of a lad for the "crime" of being gay. If they got busted for scamming and punished, wonderful! But, getting someone killed (even a lad) for allegedly being gay would be a line I won't cross.
Just my personal stance. No judgment levied against others in the forum who may feel differently.

^I agree. If a lad is messing with a victim, he's on my radar for certain. Otherwise, I don't care what he does with his personal life.

Depends on the lad I guess but yes the goal is never to kill them. That said Northern Nigeria would be your primary area of concern, as those areas tend to be Muslim and following Sharia law. I'm not sure how that would work under Muslim code if the scammer up there is a kafir (unbeliever) as he may be more fit for prosecution under a secular court. I don't think the secular courts were putting people to death, sounds more like a Sharia thing.

That said if this was tried and you didn't want your lad killed.... well you better hope he's not Muslim and/or in Northern Nigeria. Those that are Muslim and scamming, well think of it this way: lose the right hand (since you wipe your arse with your left hand) if you're a thief. However there are quite a few Muslim fraud artists that I have run into and they have all 10 digits. Most of them tend to believe that as long as they are scamming the kafir, it is ok. These people are lovingly referred to as cyber mujihadeen and..... no offense but not holding back my opinions here: hadji's of all brands and types can convert away from the extreme form of Islam or die for all I care due to what some of the fraudulent funds could potentially be poured into.

That is where I draw the line.

Sending a lad to Chad, as per Jojo in the epic, I wish I had the ability, is fine by me.

Getting a lad to do something, that is outside what I see as our remit to get lads busted for scamming, which will get him executed is one step too far.

Getting lads to waggle their todgers, post pics etc, is fair game in any Romance bait. Trying to get them into compromising situations that are not related to scamming ? Sorry, I couldn't do it.

But full marks to anyone who is prepared to do it, just not for me.

I only heard about this yesterday, and thought the subject would come up here. I agree, it's not an angle that should be exploited in trying to get a lad in trouble with the law. Though twenty lashes would not a go amiss. Very Happy

However. It could be useful getting your lad on the road when explaining to him, that you couldn't possibly send any money to a country that has such barbaric rules in place.
