Hi Everyone!

A friend of mine was scammed last year, and during that time I did a lot of reading about scamming and came across this site. Lol I always thought it must be fun to do what you guys do, but due to a lack of time and other personal issues I just never had the time to spend on this.

Soooo... a few weeks ago I logged into my skype account (unfortunately it is my real name skype account) and some "General" asked me to add him. Well and that's just when I though.... lol the time has come Razz

So we have been talking for a while. Everyday for a an hour or so for the past 3 weeks. His english is really bad, (mind you English is also not my first language too, but his SUCKS). He mentioned he wants to call me sometime to see if i'm real... lol but I managed to stall it for a while and he hasn't mentioned it again.

I must admit I am enjoying this, specially reading through the posts on here.... and I have had a few good laughs.

Well my ONLY problem now is, this guy knows my real name, but it should be ok? Or should I be concerned?

One of the things we promote is baiting safely and that includes not using email addresses that have any connection to your RL details. So you would be better off dropping your current "General" and setting up a new email and profiles on dating sites for a fake character.

He does not have my real email, after we connected on skype I created a fake email account with something similar to my initials.

but maybe you are right I should just drop him and wait for another. Thank you for the link. A lot of useful information on here.

As B8er said, bait safe!!! Drop this guy, get a new email/Skype account and it won't be long before you have many more generals and I heard there is a Rear Admiral (Ginger has all the fun!) making the rounds, too. Razz

It's a real friendly bunch down here, and everyone has been very helpful and supportive whenever I have questions, so don't be afraid to ask if you need help. We're all here to inflict as much pain as possible to lads and love to have new members join in to our favorite pastime.

Yes drop him, delete his contact, block him. He won't spare you a thought AS he will be talking to many people. Set up completely false details, no connection with your real life and have fun.

Sign up for a mentor, really helpful and at the end of an email. Spend some time reading the stickies at the top of each section of the board.

Welcome to the forum ninakie! You already have great advice above and I am sure if you set up a new skype just for your scammers they will show up. I have a dozen or so on there in just one account.

I have blocked him on my skype account, but he started a conversation on Yahoo chat this morning. It seems he is getting ready to ask me for something because he said he will do ANYTHING for me (the love of his life -urghh) and then asked me if I will do the same.

He reckons if its true love we will do ANYTHING for each other.
I wont log into that yahoo account again... and will create a different skype account when I'm home tonight.

Hi welcome. I do fishing on Skype. Leave your tablet or smartphone Skype logged on for few days, then you can catch the lads. Almost 100% are scammers, because normal people do not look for unknown people and fall on love so quickly. Especially military high rank officers are scammers without any doubts. Set your fake account's age from 40's to 70's. Profile photo use minor B class actor/actress with plain looking, not too beautiful or ugly.

Hi again!

Thank you everyone. I have created a different skype account, and like you said I will keep it logged in for a few hours/days. And yes I know almost all of them are scammers lol. I have noticed this before on my real account, but never bothered to add anyone of them until this guy a few weeks ago.

I will keep you posted! I have a more free time at the moment and only working mornings - so I'm really getting into this now.

Although we will never be able to stop all of them, at least we in someway helping to minimise their activities. I'm doing this for my friend who lost thousands last year Sad

Welcome to Eater. Even if you can't stop scamming entirely if a lad thinks you're a bigger target they'll focus on you and not others. You're wasting their time and resources and that's just the start.

And scambaiting can have some unintended bonuses. In RL (real life), I got a 100% pass in e-business after a lecturer found out I was a scambaiter!
