I hate them in general. But I try to be accommodating at first to hook them.

Had a pushy shit (another one) write me just a bit ago demanding cell number. I told him off somewhat, since I haven't had a chance to go buy an unregged sim card yet. We'll see if he comes back or if I scared him off by ... just acting like a normal human being.

This is what mystifies me - what do they hunt for, that normal behavior makes them go :O?

When they push for cell phone I just tell them that I am not comfortable giving out my phone number to someone I don't know very well. Then make up a story about how another woman seemed to be the right one, gave her my private information and now she's continues to abuse me with late night calls, nasty messages etc. so now I have to buy a new phone and a new number! Just make a long crazy story about why you don't give out personal information and they usually shut up. One dropped me because I wouldn't chat or do text messaging. I just don't have time to site hours on end chatting with someone.

I tried to tell him how I don't give it out to people I don't know very well and maybe later - since I do plan to get a 5€ sim and stick that in an old phone I'll silence and not answer, but he got really pushy. So I gave him a mild slap and he shut up. If he drops him, well... as they say, plenty of fish.

I'm sad though because he was my first confirmed-IP Nigerian, too! *sniff* Good pets are hard to find!

I just tell them that my cell is ancient and doesn't really do the texting thing. And if they push I give them my K7 number. Which for BJ is me talking while I play horrible sounds of birds squawking in the background.

I give them the old "I don't know you, let's get to know one another first and then we MIGHT get to a phone call". It leaves them with the idea of one but no actual promise of it.

I really dislike laziness. When it begins in PM I might answer back depending on my mood at the moment but usually just blow them off. I got a PM the other day on one of my girls with Hi in the subject and Smile

in the body. Lazy little bastards!

I just had one pull the pushy give-me-your-phone-number demand on badoo and I just blasted him for it-told him that everyone knows that it is unsafe and stupid for a single woman to give her number out to strangers, and if he's looking for a stupid woman, he needs to look somewhere else.

He played offended that I called him stupid (actually I didn't but whatever) , and went right back to trying to pick me up with no mention of phone after that.

^^^^My male character chastises them for giving out their phone number so quickly and easily. I tell them the dangers of internet scammers and rapist who haunt the dating sites just looking for a vunerable beautiful victim.

Or, when I am in a pissy mood I ask them if they're a prostitute and how much do they charge, because only a prostitute would give out their number like that. I really lit into one of them the other day. Had a war of words going on, I kept asking how much she charged and when she could meet me. "She" wouldn't give up and was highly insulted. Then I said the other reason why a person would give out their number is that they are really a male transvestite who cross dresses as a female to pick up men and SURPRISE!! I didn't care which one "she" was, just wanted to know how much she charged. I said I was in a pissy mood Wink

It's common for new baiters to play it a little too nice for fear of losing the scammer. Really, there's no need, particularly when it comes to romance scams.

Romance scams are a little more complicated than your average advance fee fraud, because the victim doesn't have the financial incentive to keep the arrangement going. The scammer has no choice but to deal with the victim's emotional outbursts and try to keep the scam going if he wants to get any money.

Romance scammers also tend to be even more egotistical than other types of scammers. The overwhelming majority of the time, it is the romance scammers who sign up at scamwarners, threatening us with lawsuits or making stupid posts to support their innocence. They are often arrogant enough to believe they can talk their way out of any situation.

Take advantage of that arrogance, and make them work. Be a bitch. Be doubtful, bitter, needy, clingy, even bipolar. Act jealous and irrational if you want. Don't let them immediately push you around. While you don't want to educate them, remember that a real romance victim IS going to show these behaviors, and will question things more than a victim of another type of scam. You are pretending to be a real victim. Make the scammer work to get past your issues. Heck, I even told one scammer that my "friend" told me to ask him what a "maga" is (though in that case I was just really annoyed with the nitwit.)

In general, you can get away with a lot, as long as you avoid looking too cheap and showing too much knowledge of
-their work (if they think you will see through their career claims they may bail)
-African countries (they know they are screwed if you recognize the accent)
-worldwide travel (limits their claims for expenses and emergencies)
-scams (though if they think you are a prior victim, they may still think you are gullible enough.)

Will you lose scammers if you don't play too nice? Yeah, you'll lose a few here and there, but a scammer who drops a potential victim at the slightest sign of adversity is not going to be particularly successful. You will be surprised at how many scammers persist, even when you don't play it nice. And of course, once you get a good profile going, scammers are a dime a dozen anyway.

Noted, oh wise one. I will give them the entire (wide and sharp) edge of my temper when they turn pushy. I have a distinct feeling a lot of those twats are under the assumption that women are to be pushed around. Not that I plan to edumucate them otherwise, but since they want my fictitious money, they'll need to learn how to kiss my fictitious ass. I wouldn't want their lips anywhere near my real one! Wink

So, bitchy, spoiled and none too bright or experienced. I wonder why these people think that a real woman would put up with this sort of shit. And considering that there are victims, I now wonder why DO women put up with this sort of shit?!

In some African cultures, women basically have no rights. If their husband dies and they have no sons, they inherit nothing and everything the husband had prior to his death goes to his brother or other male relative. Except debt, the woman would inherit their husbands debts. Women are frequently beaten and raped by their husbands. It's a sad situation.
