I had some dealings with a guy like this about 10 years ago on yahoo. He was selling a classic mustang for $6,500. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Long story short, the car was no longer in the US but had been shipped overseas with him because he was in the military and got transferred. He couldn't afford to get the car road ready and pay the overseas taxes BUT he was willing to air freight the car to me free of charge! Of course I smelled a rat, especially when he wouldn't answer any of my questions and mostly sent form letters. After much pestering he finally sent me a VIN #. I googled it and it came back to a mustang for sell in CA. I contacted the dealer to see if they still had the car. They did. I notified yahoo. Wish I had known about eater at the time because this guy deserved some abuse!!

There was a mass bait on a Roma gang a while back, advertising camper vans and cars.. I wonder if it's the same?
