Hi I just signed on last week. I almost got scammed on FB by one OB Cecil. He said he was an engineer from London, and he had an 8 yo daughter named Jasmine.

I corresponded with him for about 1 month but figured out within 2 weeks he was trying to scam me. Sure enough on Mon, Sept 23, he said he needed more money for his contract because it was his life and he was begging etc.

So because I had read this site and realized I couldn't play him because he already knew my last name, I had to block him from contacting me. Right when we were in the middle of a chat no less lol.

So I noticed that the FB profile of OB is now gone.

I also noticed that there are some Cecils that might be his. IE Jasmine, Mary.

He had a picture of a guy playing the guitar and a guy looking at his computer and nothing much else.

So if any body wants to play this lad enjoy, I was very disappointed I couldn't play him more. Oh well.

I would really luv to be a scam baiter. I love these stories.

Hi javabean and welcome! Happy to hear you realized it was a scam!
I am also happy that you protected yourself and did not bait him under your real name.
There's a ton of FB scammers out there, something I should probably look at baiting a bit more seriously.

The official welcoming committee will be along soon with coffee and doughnuts asking if you've read the stickies and grabbed a mentor.

Welcome to the forum javabean! Always great to see a person that recognizes things for what they are and especially when they end up coming here.

I hope you'll consider taking up this hobby yourself. Facebook is full of scammers and I think only a few of us bait through that.

Welcome JavaBean to our little corner of the Forum. Like everybody else, glad your realized that the creep was a scammer and chose to protect yourself. If you want to join our merry bunch, make up a couple of fake FB profiles, a gmail addy with none of your real info and jump in. Mentors are very helpful and if you decide to try baiting, can help with getting up and running. Read the stickies too-filled with tons of info.

Hi Javabeans (is that a reference to programming?)

I joined in early August and was not going to bait, just read here and give the wonderful baiters encouragement to continue what they do. Then I couldn't take it any more and decided to join in. It is difficult at times and my character is still developing, so I am sure I am making a ton of mistakes, but the goal here is to keep them busy with us and not real victims.

Just be sure to have something to clean your computer screen, because some of these baiters are just too hilarious! Better yet, don't have a beverage because you will never know when it will happen!

Glad to see another one here in this forum and looking forward to your baits!

From the comments above you should see there is a small but dedicated crew in this Forum. Read your way through some of this stuff as it is quite ride. Ask questions, join in, lurk or show us something we have never seen before. The bottom line is fun so I hope you enjoy your stay!
