This guy has been imprisoned for selling fake bomb detectors to people all over the world.

He is surely the king of scammers but isnt it a bit beyond belief that nobody thought to run any checks on whether these things actually worked - for 10 years?

As an ex British soldier who has run the gauntlet of IEDs, this story particularly infuriated me. Frankly it's an insult that he only got 7 years in the scrubs.
I think all the money he made from this scam, every last penny in his bank accounts, should be seized and handed over to Help for Heroes.

Also @sunshinekid, it's quite easy for manufacturers of military equipment to hide behind a veil of secrecy. So as not to compromise operational effectiveness, the equipment is labelled as secret technology and the buyers sign into an agreement not to poke their noses inside it. Simple as that.

They've been onto him for years. Trouble was, it sold well, although the bribery behind this was not known at the time. There will be a log of procurement types feeling very silly over this.
