Before all the funny remarks I expect to come from the clowns on this site, I am being serious.

Has anyone found a solution to a double mattress, creeping to my side of the bed, during the night.

No I don't toss and turn, wife does. Single beds are out, wife says so.

Has anybody any idea of having a cover that we can put under the mattress, that would act as a friction mat and reduce the creep

I have a solution. but it will require a chicken, 3 cans of peas and 22 carrots.

You will need to take the peas, and eat them. afterwards, hang each of the 22 carrots from the ceiling and then call the chicken into the room.
Once it does come into the room. do a dance under the moonlight facing eastward. You will need to videotape this, and post. Afterwards I will go to the WU office and send a telegram on how to solve this. Laughing

But seriously... I have heard rubber rug liners have worked for others.

I have a couple of possible suggestions here. The adhesive backed velcro strips or an unproven method here but it seems logical.

The tacky type shelf paper you can get at any dollar store. Lay it in strips between the spring and mattress. Seems like it should stop the sliding. (I also cut little squares out of these for my mom, the old woman that puts up with me and even grandma had a few for opening stubborn jars.)

EDIT: The above also works great for router tables for a non skid surface.

The velcro strip method seems to be the cheapest and neatest - however as you state that the mattress creeps to your side of the bed the problem may be in the superior mass (weight) of your wife causing 'landslip' towards your direction. I am sure there is a mathematical formula for this.
Suggest to your wife that maybe a weight loss on her part might stop the problem but bear in mind the velcro solution will probably be the quietest way to go.

One solution might be to tie the mattress to the bed frame if it allows. You normally have two lifting handles on each side of a mattress. You can pass some kind of tie through them, then around the side rails of the bed.

Try that before buying anything.

^ It's great for lining drawers in a tool chest. Keeps the noise down and keeps tools from sliding all around when you open the drawer.

^^^ We'll know when your getting your full ration of ZZzzzzs by the sudden extra cheeriness of the tone in your posts.

But being serious for a minute. It sounds like it could be the fabric covering of the mattress that is causing the problem. Some are covered in a shiny silk like material, along with the base if it's a divan. Any matting sandwiched in between the two that has a rough surface should solve the problem.
