I suspect it's like oversaturation with anything. You do it for long enough, no matter how fun it is, it gets grindy and boring. You give it up, then one day a few years later, remember how much fun you had and pick it up again.

At least that's how it went with me.

I find it amazing how little lads have changed in all that time. Still as predictable and easily manipulated as ever.

Me too.
Been back about 4 weeks now after a few years away, and all the enthusiasm is back.

I was just browsing something or other and a random memory of the fun I had with my email friends inspired me to check if my account here still existed. If it had been deleted because it had been dormant too long, I would have closed the page and done something else.
But it was still there so here I am!

Yeah just retired and baiting more ,on netlog as a single woman ,funny how i got so many men approaching me with funny names ,the best so far is Bond Cola ,

,glad they dont realise how bad thier names are .

I did want to ask peoples opinions about an article i read about scammers english being really bad so as to eliminate all but the most gullible ,anyone read anything like it ?,personally i think thier english is awful ,but i still wouldnt turn my back on any of them.

I've heard the same, but I think it's bunk.

Lad English (Ladglish) is bad for two reasons. The first is their attempt to sound like specialists. Saying things like monies instead of money or using "big" words like consignment while having no idea what they mean. This might actually be beneficial to them sometimes...

...but the second reason Ladglish sounds bad is not. Their Pidgin often bleeds into it. If you talk with lads as one of them and they respond to you in proper Pidgin, you can see a lot of the "mistakes" they make in Ladglish are actually normal for Pidgin. The biggest example is the use of simply "am" instead of "I am." Another one is the use of "can" as both "can" and "can't". Those are just two of many, many examples.

The quality of a lad's English tend to be indicators of little more than how well they know proper English. The lads with worse English, you'll find, tend to be the younger and/or less experienced ones.

Thanks Oscar. If there's something I recommend for every baiter, it's becoming a lad for a while. Not to scam, of course, but rather to communicate with other lads on their own level. The amount of insight you get into their motives and culture and just the art of 419 in general is huge.

The easiest way to learn is through immersion. You'll make mistakes in the beginning, but it's the same with any language, I suppose.

I know that's not particularly useful advice, so here's something a little more useful:

Baba Willy's Online Pidgin Dictionary

This is perfect for when you're learning, a lad says something to you, and you only understand 1 of every 5 words.

Alternatively, if you want, I can give you a little jumpstart. Teach you the basic grammar, hook you up with some gullible lads, stuff like that. You can even practice on me and I can let you know what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong if you want.
