I've had an interesting weekend so far, since the 5.7 on Friday,. to the 6.5 today

It has been interesting watching 20m high trees swaying, feeling the house do a boogie, having the dog beat me out the door when the next one hit, walking along the road and having the road come up to meet me.

I've got several plastic storage containers, tent/food/gas cook stoves/sleeping bags stored in the separate garage, enough for a month

It's all been good so far Smile

I'm not in Wellington, fortunately, but where I am is almost as far away sideways as I can be from the epicentre. I've been woken 4 times over night with the house shaking, then there are the slight ones that don't make the house creak and groan, but cause a wobbly jelly feeling, like being seasick.

We had 2 strong ones about 10 minutes apart at 3am local time, the Dog and I decided to have coffee and sit outside for a while after those.

Still getting tremors, it's going to be an interesting week.

Hang in there, I'll be letting the lads know that the W.U. office collapsed in the quake, so it's bank account or nothing.

I'm getting shaken awake (gently) every few hours at night, we haven't had another big shake, mostly 3.5 - 5 mag, with a lot of smaller ones that you'd have to be standing on top of to feel.

As with everything in the natural world, there is a lot of speculation about how long the aftershocks will continue, all I want is some unbroken sleep!

The one good thing, I'm not viewed as that prepper f**kwit down the road anymore Very Happy

The survival cartons out in the shed haven't been used yet, but I'm really pleased they are there just in case. Dome tent, sleeping bags, food/water/gas cooker etc. I hope I don't have to use them, but I'm ready just in case

A suggestion, why don't you build a bed that rocks you from side to side, every time a quake strikes the bed rocks and in theory you should have a good nights sleep. Wink

If your not on your lonesome, it should be intresting, that's if Cougar has managed to arrive. Laughing
