I had a chance to get an old Joust arcade game some years back for a pretty good deal, cept it had spent the last 20 years in a bar and had cigarrette smoke oozing from it and I didn't have the room.

Lately been looking for a vintage tabletop game, but those things aren't exactly free.

@Boofles: The only original full size arcade machines I have are a Donkey Kong (stand up), Pacman (cocktail) both of which are originals, and and an all but dead Battlezone which a friend is trying to repair for me. I do have another multi game arcade machine with 64 of the old classics built in (NOT a MAME machine I hasten to add!), but unfortunately some of the sound effects are missing in some games (for example, Moon Cresta has a couple of effects missing). I collect old retro game stuff (consoles etc.) but sadly don't have enough room, or enough of an understanding wife to go for any more full size arcade stuff.

I have several arcade games but they're a bit older than what you're discussing. Mine range from 1896 to 1920...

I don't own any arcade game consoles but if anyone ever sees one from the mid-80s called Exed Exes I would highly recommend it. A spaceship top-down shoot-em-up with amazing power-ups and weapons, punishing enemy onslaughts and great graphics and sound plus a really good 2 player mode.

At least that's what I remember. It was in a pub. I may have played it after drinking.

@Pastor Frank - Didn't Shiver play the pirate in Raiders of the Last Arse? Either that or he was the captain in Das Butt.

^ I'm not sure. I know he had a cameo in Plumber Fantasy 6. I've never seen it, but SOOI told me about it, he has the whole series on VCR.

Slightly back on topic: I make my own arcade machine games as a hobby sometimes. I've recreated Space Invaders, Tron, Breakout, and Pong. I call it the Arduino VCS, as it's powered by an Arduino UNO.

If boofles (BTW, I have a dog named Boofer....) would like the source code, I would be happy to share. It's very easy to wire, and just needs an old TV with A/V cable input (as opposed to the old fashioned cooaxial cable that was always annoying to attach)

@phil - I'm rather fond of a similar gamed called truxton(or tatsujin in its native land). It's the same kind of game you're describing so you should check it out if you ever get the chance(it's well emulated although I'm happy to say I do have the board for it myself).

@juan - wow! that sounds pretty cool! If you have any pics I'd love to see them Smile

@shiver - I feel your pain as my wife stopped me at 4 full size cabs(one ended up being a 33" showcase cab though so jokes on her after all lol).
My only one still original is the Tekken 5 cab as I'm a HUGE tekken fan. I wired that one up with a switch that let's me play any of the tekkens I have with the press of a button. The other three have all been converted to custom cabs to accomodate what I do with them, but they were originally world series baseball, fighting vipers and, I believe, invasion. Like the Tekken cab, each one has a switch in it so I can run multiple boards in them, although, i've gotten so many boards now that I still end up plugging and unplugging stuff pretty regularly hehe.
That Battlezone sounds like an uphill battle(no pun intended) those games with the old vector monitors are crazy to get working right sometimes. Hopefully there's nothing major wrong with it and it will be an easy fix for your friend.

also...did someone say gay porn(i sure hope so!)??
