Hi Guys!

Just thought I would say Hi and introduce myself.

I am MayFair - I got the name from the brand of smokes I enjoy... Might help remind me to quit.

Not sure if you guys use real names? Or mention where you are from?

Anyway, I found 419eater a few years back and went through all the letters. Didn't notice the forum at the time.. Came back recently to re-enjoy the letters and have loved reading through the posts... Its gotten me keen to give this all a try.

I have created a new e-mail - totally separate to me. And have made about 20 comments so I hope to get some bites soon.

Anyway - hope to enjoy the forums more with you all..

Hope this post is OK.. I am a member of many forums but never one like this.

Welcome here! Well, we don't use our real names and regarding location, I guess that's just everyone's personal policy. Some like to hide thier location, some, like me, are not worried to tell you where are they from.

I'd strongly recommend requesting a mentor

read the stickies in the Uni

bait very slowly (this is almost the hardest thing to learn IMHO)

NEVER worry if a lad drops you, there are thousand and thousands out there for you to torment

if in doubt, ask for advice (you'll probably get more than you need!) - there are no dumb questions, ask politely and please accept the advice - somethings we do / don't do are not always obvious to a newbie (which I consider myself still to be) - a mentor will help you here

one question - I have had about 10 e-mails come through. I have replied to 5.. Do you think its possible a scammer is testing the waters with a bunch of different scams?

I have had lotto scams, daughter with rich dad, bank with money not touched, UN contact me, ect... lol

very unlikely all from one lad

where did you post your email *fake* email address? on a nice guestbook - if so expect a tidal wave of scams from lads 'bombing runs'

there again my RL email gets dozens every week and our work email gateway drops over 97% of emails received (and that is a large volume of mails I can tell you) so you can just get lucky Very Happy

1/3 from different searches so that gives me hope most replies will get a reply tomrrow Smile

you'll be getting dozens per day within a week, if you are using GMail have a look at using filters (generally some nice add-ons withing Google Labs as well) - tagging the type of scam helps you pick ones that interest you to pursue

A great way to begin.
Too often people set their sights too high and bail out when they're inevitably disappointed. Starting out, you need to set realistic goals and learn as you go along.
You seem to have the attitude that will stand you in good stead as a member of this community.

Yes I'm using gmail, and they have all hit spam so far haha.

I read all the Shiver E-Mails a couple of years ago and never noticed the forum. I came back recently to re-read them and noticed the forum and realized how many people are involved in baiting Smile

But I had registered. Let too much time lapse. Inspector Gadget and ParaNoid helped me with a PCH scammer. Thanks guys. Health problems kept me out of it for a while. I also got side tracked attempting to sue some a-hole telemarketers. Unfortunatly have to use RL to get into all that. But I can report that I busted two "foreign offshore shell companies" that these telemarketers were running. Gave the FTC this info more than a month ago. Don't wish to speak poorly of our Gvmt agencies. They are actualy on the side of the Consumer.

Hello there!

New here myself also. I posted a comment on a guestbook from a post here on 419eater that was said to deliver mass amounts of spam email (cant remember the link, anyone care to post it?) -> you should post a comment there, i get about 125-175 spam emails a day. I signed about 20 different guestbooks too so I dont know how much email is coming from said massive spam guestbook.
