I'm thinking of storing my pets storys on floppies, about how many could i get on one floppy?

A bit under 1.44MB.

(It depends on how much you're storing for each one. How long? Pictures?)

(Also, you should look into USB flash drives.)

Was just reading that NN's buried treasure was never found, then on seeing this... well, it's late here, I've had a couple glasses of wine, and my mind is not a sane place anyway.

But, take all the scammer stories and encrypt them before putting them on the floppies. Send them to a lad, have him bury them somewhere (because they contain top secret financial information, of course). Have some other lad go looking for the mysterious lost treasure, hidden by the world's governments, where the only clue is on a set of buried floppies that you happen to have an approximate location of. When he finds them, all he has to do is break the encryption (which really, how could you possibly have known about) and fabulous riches would be his!

Though really, I guess with floppy disks buried in a cardboard box in Africa for a few months... encryption might not really be needed. Razz

And, in the off chance he is a whiz and manages to recover some data, he'll at least get a chuckle at a another mugu for his trouble. Smile

A text page with no word processing formatting .txt file is about 2 K per page for an 8.5X11 page. Depending on formatting, photo, blank lines, etc. you result may vary.

Save an average size thread you want to keep to your local hard drive. Then check it's size.

Sorry to hear about your floppy disk. Could be worse. I heard cotton balls and woodpecker are very painful.

I've heard that both a compressed disk and a slipped disk are very painful. I hope a floppy one doesn't hurt too much.
