Ok, so everyone (rightly) curses the scammers when they use innocent people's pictures, so what are people's suggestions for when we want to send them a pic but without sending a pic of our RL selves? I've tried the .dll file, and a couple of other modalities to keep my lad hanging on, but eventually (if you want them to properly fall in love with you, anyway) surely you have to send a picture?
Any suggestions?

There are quite a few suggestions but the 2 main ideas to consider are

1. Dont send a picture, while there are many benefits in sending a picture in helping to establish your credibilty it is still not essential.
Many baits will go quite successfully without a photo and it is common to hear them compliment you on your photo when you have not even sent one.
I once sent a real photo of myself to verify that I was for real and didn't get a reply, it certainly was not a good picture of me, late at night, 5 day growth and in the dark, but the point is it didn't help at all.

2. If you must have a picture find some Z grade actors, ones who would not be obvious to a "Russian Vlad" or "African Lad", there are heaps to choose from.

Both ways have thier advantages and disadvantages, by not sending one you will save yourself time but it is also good to send them large files (wether or not a photo) as it does use up more of their time, send them the biggest "picture" you can find and perhaps they will stop asking for them, then send random Mpegs

If you absolutely have to send a picture, then a c list celeb works fine. Lots to be found online in natural looking poses if you take the time.

Actually you don't have to send pictures. They are not interested in what you look like just your money. Of course the odd picture can go a long way to reassuare them you are not a nasty timewasting baiter so what to do?

a) Often I recycle pictures I have received from baits where I feel it is a model being used soley for this purpose.
b) Use a picture of a minor celebrity
c) %^%$ it and use a picture of yourself that you have on the net elsewhere. I am more at risk at being beaten up for my comments about football than from baiting and they could be used by scammers if they wanted the boy next door look! I never use my name or pictures that giveaway my home location though.
I can see answer c being disagreed with...

Brilliant, thanks for the advice (I was a little worried I might have initiated an ethics thread, but I seem to have escaped that! So I guess it's not recommended to use the pictures from dating sites and the like then? Half of them are probably scammers anyway!

This has been discussed before and I guess if you want to put your picture on the net for any reason then unless you take the time to copy right it with a stamp etc it is fair game to be used by anyone anyway.

Oh, one more Q... Since I'm baiting as a character from a TV show, can I use pics of that character? Is that likely to work? The lad I'm working on right now is from Ghana so is unlikely to have heard of either the TV show or the character!

My first and longest running bait (still going) has never seen a picture of me. I asked for pictures of him and HE did the .dll trick. All I've ever seen of him is a thumbnail.

Personally I don't have a problem with using my real life pics because first off I'm not scam material so nobody's going to bother using my pics elsewhere and secondly I use old pics from like 10-15 years ago. I've even sent them baby pictures and a picture of my mother who's 78 years old. But that's only been to the very few who have insisted.

Last, the one that was really insistent that I prove I was real - the John in the I baited Satan thread - I did a google for 'family pictures' and went to like page 10 and 'harvested' somebody's family web site. That way I got pics of family, house, pets, etc. But look where that got me. If you've read that thread, my biggest mistake with that bait was letting that S.O.B. have control. I'll never do that again.

Thinking about what Tasman said another more unusual way would be to bait an african male and a russian female at the same time and use the pictures they send on the other scammer.

Now that's a fine idea - I have both going on, so I might try that out as part of the "experiment". Only prob is how to pass my(male)self off as African now... Oh well, I'm sure it's doable...

Those of African decent live in many parts of the world, there is absolutely no reason why you cant look like a lad, just try to get photos from your lad that dont have him dressed as one

I did realise a little flaw in the plan - when I spoke to my lad, he asked me what I looked like and I said I had blonde hair and grey eyes. Which unfortunately my russian vlass doesn't... And nor does my TV character! Damn, I really should have thought a bit harder about that... Or will he not notice?

Probably wont notice? if he does tell him you were wearing contatcs that day and you have had your hair couloured, watch his joy when you tell how much it cost you for the makeover. Lads love hearing about the money you spend Wink

Dont forget you have an endless supply of resources when your using pretend things.

There is no way he will pick up on that. Swapping pictures was what I meant although I rarely bait as a woman so don't have much use for the majority of pictures I have come my way. Speaking of pictures... I have been promised something fruit on its way! Ruddy genius if it comes off!

Cool, hope it's a good one! I think I'm gonna go with the modality of changing picture regularly, although with the pics being similar enough that they're not blatantly different people! Just to see how long it takes him to twig... Maybe say they are all me but from different periods in my life... So many possibilities!

Hey if you want female pictures in lots of poses, I got an interesting one this morning. I'm pretty sure she's not just a scammer (English is way too good), but is also selling porn. She wrote to my Myspace watchdog whose profile says he's dedicated to warning Myspace members about Romance Scammers. She never even read my profile. But she did write a very long come on letter that was very credible. It lures men to her page: http://www.space6mbmedia.com/katespage69/ where I think the pictures might come in handy for baiting.

BTW, the only error she made in any of her contact letters was this:

I use pics of actress Sarah S!lverman for my baits. She's perfect for my purposes; not well known, fairly attractive and there are tons of weird pics of her on the internet.

I've thought about baiting as Elaine from Se!nfeld or Alex Forrest (Fatal Attract!on) but I still love my current character - she's so psycho and I can really be creative.

I use a picture of an author...they are available from their websites.

In my reading I've learned that the lads do watch movies...I doubt they read American novels.

I doubt they can read a menu. Wink
