Anybody seen this exhibit?

http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html

I've been waiting for this to come by and it will finally be in my town in June. The museum says it might be disturbing for children, but I was planning on bringing my 2 year old daughter. Anyone who has seen it have any perspective on if she will find it disturbing?

Generally kids seem more resiliant then most adults. I remember seeing the Jim Rose circus a few years back and the young ones in the audience were far less disturbed then the adults.

I saw it about nine years ago in Basel (Switzerland). I thought it was absolutely fascinating. Not gory or gruesome at all. Very educational.

As with adults, children aren't all the same. I'm sure I would have dealt with it fine as a kid. When I visited it, there were children there and they seemed very interested and were asking lots of questions.

There was no giggling or pointing. It's all very objective.

The "hard" stuff is in separate rooms which have warnings posted. Even those rooms weren't really that bad. It just sounds bad. When you're there and see it, it's all very different.

I saw BodyWorlds this past winter. It is excellent. I don't think it is too intense for children. All of the kids I saw were fascinated. It takes about 2 hours to see and read everything so they might get a little bored after awhile.

Ahhh, Gunther Von Hagens, he did a series of autopsys on TV in the UK last year, great viewing, and a couple of years before that he was on TV here quite a bit talking all about what he does in his body factory, all good stuff.

SP: wasn't that the series where they had "live" models on that he drew on to show where "stuff" was?

I sort of left off viewing it once the girl-man-boy-woman thing was on.

Yes! I remember watching a couple of the live autopsies on C4. There were reports that the police would be rushing in at any minute to drag Gunther away after 'indecency' protests. Gruesome stuff, but hard not to watch. Even though I don't have much interest in things medical, it was interesting and informative.

Gunther would make a superb James Bond bad guy Smile

@ Fistymus, yes, that's the one, the whole series was good, I like watching scientific stuff like that, Gunther was born in the wrong era, when I see him, I imagine him as some mad 19th century scientist in a Bavarian castle hidden in a dark forest Very Happy

It was the chick with the dick that put me off watching when he was explaining the turning the mantool inside out to build the love tunnel puke

The fact that the frankenstein live actor was stood starkers behind him with marker pen drawings all over him was the most disturbing.
