My friend and I are both fortunate enough to have laptops in which the graphics card can be upgraded. The trouble is, we can't find anywhere to by the cards by themselves. The only way to get a new card seems to be to get a whole laptop. Even ebay only has a few, and then they're not exactly high-end since they're cards that people have taken out of old laptops. Does anyone have any pointers on how to get hold of a new laptop graphics card? |

Heh, my laptop also supposedly has an upgradeable video card... the only problem is only two cards were ever produced for the slot they used, and mine came with the better one  |

Think i'd be tempted to do a google search, i'm sure someone will supply
GC's for laptops. |

Don't forget that if you put a more powerful graphics card in a laptop then your fan probably won't be able to cope with the extra heat. Best case you burn yourself if you put it on your lap. Worst case, you tourch your motherboard (i've done this and it's damned expensive for a replacement). Plus, if you've got a slower FSB (a lot of laptops do) then you won't get the full benefits of an upgrade. |
