I do appreciate this. Perhaps you meant to use the adjective instead of the adverb and I took it wrong. However, and then I will get off my soap box, perhaps I'm a cab driver and I had to pay $6000 for a used police cruiser with 200K miles on it and $140,000 for the medallion so I could be licensed. The gas to sit around waiting on a fare cost me $4 bucks a gallon while it funnels out the muffler as I idle. Then, I have to charge a standard rate, and, let's face it, I'm kinda a dummy, but I can pass a driving test and it beats dealing dope on the street corner.

Or perhaps I own a small mom and pop diner that has been handed down generation after generation. But, now, that hamburger costs me $5 a pound to buy, utility prices are going up, the purveyor wants me to pay a gas surcharge because his price of gas just skyrocketed, and Fred in the kitchen wants a raise.

Or maybe I have a driver's license and I can park cars. They skipped me through high school since "No one gets left behind" and I've seen too many kids in the barrio get taken out by the gang the next block over. Yeah, I'll work for $7.25 and stand in the rain and snow, the heat and humidity, and I'll work an honest job and be proud of that.

I look at tips as a luxury tax that helps those that made some wrong choices. Is it right? Perhaps not, but you choose to enjoy their services, whatever they may be.

I look at tips as, you do a good job, you get a tip. A little something extra for being good at what you do and giving me a pleasant experience. You do a shitty job, no tip for you.

And don't even get me started on the people that expect tip 'just because.'

There are places that require a mandatory "Gratuity" for services rendered. Yet another facet of real life that is best left away from the Baiting arena. Crying or Very sad
