Thanks for all the positive responses guys! It went AMAZING. At least in my opinion. Who knows how he felt.

I had snacks and coffee set up. We talked about my past and then we got him talking about his past and stories I had picked up while on the Police Department I did my internship at. We were laughing and having a ball. In fact I showed him my grandfathers homicide investigation textbook that he gave to me before he passed. Turns out they went to the same homicide investigation school. Just separated by 8 years.
