A shame. I toured it in about 1995, and Greenwich Observertory too. I hope the catch the perps and keelhaul the dogs!

Many Australasians will be familiar with the Bounty replica which sails on Sydney Harbour. It was built for the film "Mutiny on the Bounty" which starred Anthony Hopkins and Mel Gibson.

Anyway the Bounty is the sister ship of the Sirius. The Sirius was the lead and largest ship in the great fleet which colonised Australia, landing in what is now Sydney in 1788. I think she carried about 140 people half way round the world in about six months, with a stop off in Cape Town on the way.

Just imagine 140 people living on that little sailing ship for six months in the storms you get in the southern ocean. Bet there was a lot of this going on puke

If so thats a shame as the Bounty replica is such a cool boat.
These are the guys you wish it be legal to skull bash until they're disabled.

Probably some late drunk teens that give other late aged teens a bad name.

No, she's a clipper. If she was a dog, she'd be a greyhound, whereas the Bounty would be something heavier and fiercer, like a Dobermann!

But yes, a good head bashing would benefit those responsible!

The following statement was issued by the Chairman of the Trustees of the Scottish Maritime Museum on 21st May 2007

Statement from the Scottish Maritime Museum

The news of the fire on Cutty Sark and the possible damage to her very important iron frames is exceptionally sad and we very much hope that detailed examination will establish that the damage is not as severe as first thought.

The Trustees of the Scottish Maritime Museum are very concerned at the potential loss of our maritime heritage especially as the Museum has entered the final phase of preparing for the deconstruction of the City of Adelaide. We are continuing with the process and a panel of experts will be meeting next week to prepare the brief.

The City of Adelaide is an older clipper ship than the Cutty Sark and built for passengers rather than fast cargo carrying but together they represent the last 19th century composite clipper ships in the world.

It has been with very great regret that the Trustees have been forced, through lack of funding for the work of the museum and the preservation of its national collections, to go through with the deconstruction of the City of Adelaide.

I didnt watch it, but Hayley taped the beginning.

They all met up at the Cutty Sark before they went of on their mission of the week, and behold! There it was restored to brand new!

God bless the BBC, is nothing too much trouble for them?
