I have been YMing and on a couple of occassions they have tried to transfer gif files to me. I don't accept saying my firewall wont accept it and can you email me and then they go all cold.
Virus or something? |

It's possible to put malicious code in a GIF file that could be executed when opened in some versions of MS Office:

Provided that you've installed the latest patches, you should be safe though. |

Best not to bother. As soon as they play that game I am not interested. I need my computer to make their life difficult not the other way round. Thanks for the gif advice though. |

I do the same thing, except I use the "I'm not using Yahoo Messenger" excuse. Well, not so much an excuse as I really don't use it. I've never had a problem with it though, and they always send the pic to me. Promising to send one right back helps. And of course then you can check their IP address. |
