Well, I got frustrated trying to figure out Western Union, so I decided to go to Russia to help her take care of things. She tried to brush me back a couple of times, first saying it was time-consuming and expensive, then saying she wanted to meet me in a nicer place. I said I understood that, but I'd come over there first and then we'd go back out together once we got her visa squared away.

I thought I would get dumped, but she answered back today, saying how great that I'm coming to Russia, Cheboksary is about 800 or 900 km from Moscow (a real answer to a question I put to her!) and we'd have a great time together. No more mention of any money.

So now what? Is she going to keep calling my bluff, or is she going to dump me or get back to the money after a couple of exchanges?

What's the best approach, just push forward and ask some more questions about what's the best hotel, which hotel will sponsor a visa, etc.? Also ask about the procedures for bringing in my own plane, if I decide to just use it to fly to Russia, rather than going commercial?

Should I grouse about why her letters have gotten so much shorter?

Sounds like you are being played, so go for it bluff right back, get her/ him to book a hotel and send you copies of the receipt and push for the private jet info too, get the vlad working for you Twisted Evil

I am guessing, but I think she is going to need money book her travel to Moscow or where from where she lives... she will wait until you are committed and then throw that one in.

Tasman, yeah, you would think so, but we are pretty solidly in agreement at this point that I"m going to come to her city (Cheboksary). Right this second, she's just wanting me to let her know how long it's going to take for me to do my papers, and saying she's looking forward to our time together. It'll be interesting to see how she gets back to the money issue - unless her plan is to really meet me and then get money through much less gentle means than by having me send it by WU.

they don't care if you go to cheboksary to meet them.......theyre not there.

they may play along a little.....

unless you've got a dumb or new one they won't jump through many hoops.
they will hit you up for some money for some reason before your arrival.

that's all they do.....

while you're baiting this one, the scammers are collecting from many victims.

if the details on this scammer aren't posted on the 'net.....posting them will put a crimp in the scammers paydays and usually not end the bait

Now. This site http://www.says-it.com/concertticket/ used to do Boarding Passes or it only ever did tickets which were adapted. Play around with it and try and make a boarding pass, claim you checked in online and you are ready to go... that should flush out what is going on. If it is quiet then claim you travelled but I don't think it will come to that.

Still working on it. Cheboksary is quite a distance from Moscow, so I decided to just use my own plane rather than fly commercially and then hire a car to drive to Cheboksary. I said that we would be totally free to do what we wanted, could spend as much time as we wanted in Cheboksary, get visas for anyplace she wanted to go, then go to Europe or just anywhere before heading to the U.S.

She writes back, says it would be great to meet in Europe, can I help her with some money for expenses.

I said no, no, I'm taking my own plane, so no worries, I'll pay all expenses when I get to Cheboksary.

Thought that would finish it, but no, she writes back, says OK, I understand, will be happy to meet, how's my visa coming, she'll write more later.

Nothing yet, so I'll send her an update tomorrow, I'll probably bring a staff of about 30 people and naturally it'll take some time to get all their visas and get any needed permits for the plane.

I think it will be the same as one of the scam I got.

First was it the ordinary talk that he had a job in Africa to do and he took the flight from USA to Africa.

After awhile do I think he started to think that my country Sweden was a great place to live in so he change the plans of getting some money from me to try to move to me instead.

So he come up that he had find a young man that had no parents sleeping on the street and as he had already said his real name did he had to say that this boy he find had the same name as he.

And the truth was that he was only 18 as he had to tell me the truth about him for to get help of me to move to Sweden.

I think also this girl have change her plans from what the first she was thinking to do.

She want to bring you to russia now as she can see she get more money to really take to a boyfriend and later on leaving you to both get money from you and live in USA.

I have been married in USA and the Immigration in Virginia said I could stay in USA by myself after divorced if I told them that my husband beat me up.....( I couldn't do that as he had not beat me up only been with other women ) Laughing

Russian girls are smarter than Nigerian men so I think she knows now that she have more to win to let you come and meet her....

And if you say you wealthy she maybe take you to Russia and take you to a place where some men can beat you up and steal your money.

Don't go there !!!

Thanks for your concern and advice, and of course I wouldn't go there - not being the extremely wealthy person I represented myself as being, I do not have my own plane. In this case, it was just a basic send me money scam, and is now over; I was the one who forced the plan of me going to Russia on the pretext that I couldn't figure out how to use WU, she accepted that, but then asked for money to pay internet expenses, I retorted that I had plenty of money, but couldn't figure out how to use WU, and was hurt that she brought it up again. I demanded an apology, but have heard nothing since.

These people work many, many people at one time for small sums; typically, they're not like lads working to get 1 big payoff. She sent me a lot of prefab letters at the beginning, she could have sent out hundreds of the same letter at the same time. As soon as it got difficult, she just bailed out.

But thanks, your advice was definitely the right advice, and I never had any intention of going there.

Saying you'll pay them a visit and setting a date only usually forces their hand into a quick grab for the cash. Vlads are cynical creatures and don't really care whether you're the Sultan of Brunei or have to re-mortgage your mother's house to afford the cost of Svetlana's visa and passport application. They might humour you, but the plan remains the same regardless.

Still, there is the odd exception. I did once manage to get a vlad to agree to meet me at the airport and from the vitriolic e-mail I got back (see signature) I assume she actually turned up! I'm currently re-baiting her to see if she's trophy material.
