My Wife's co worker just returned from Romania on a 1600$ flight. She's "engaged" to her internet lurver. I do not like the looks of this, at all! I kind of know her (the co worker), but we are not friends or anything. Should I approach her, or just, uh, not approach her? This is pissing me off, but they are "in love", so an intervention would fall on deaf ears. Of course, he's coming to the USA to live. Papers have been filed. My Wife is spooked as well. The Wife is an up and coming baiter, and is aware about this "I marry you, then dissapear" racket.
Ooooooooooo! My blood pressure is a risin'. Comments my Friends? |

She would not welcome an approach from you, but she might listen to your wife? But she will have to approach it very carefully in case she comes across is interfering. I guess you need to gather all the facts and background if you can and then be the 'concerned friend' and at least get this woman to THINK about what might be going on. It will be hard though because no doubt she's In Lurve and totally blind to common sense and reason. Can you do some research on other similar cases and show her some examples?? |

Can you get the email address and bait it? Sometimes proof hurts but it'll hurt less than this lady getting a broken heart and being out a bunch of money. |

^^^ I doubt I could get anything. It's a shame. My Wife is not that close with her either, but they enjoy company. Damn! I guess we'll see how it play's out. It just torque's my butt! And, I don't like my butt torqued! Especially when it comes to scammers. (And some other stuff). I don't think I could ever get his e mail. Guess we will watch and learn. |

There's some wierd stuff coming out of Romania.
He's probably not a scammer, but is just wanting to come to the US.
He may even vanish quickly to seek out somebody else he has been in contact with.
Not much you can do. If she's filed for a fiancee visa, which MAY be denied, you've got ten months or so to convince her something is wrong.
It's better they're 'engaged' and didn't marry in the home country since that gives her time to get disentangled more easily.
She may back out herself. FWIW, make sure she isn't supporting this guy financially in the mean time.
That may dull the ardour a bit...

@joetam: I've seen written on the forum before that you should PM a moderator. Maybe they have a solution?
