I believe that there ought to be more exposure of these 419mugus. there ought to be more and agressive exposure to the public that they are out there. There should be PSA'son television and radio, poster's hung at places that have money-wiring services, comedians and comedy shows to mock them. Also a well-writ, well-directed movie about a 419scammer ought to really do the trick.
Also, I believe that there are about 4,000 of us baiters worldwide and those numbers are effecting them. I'd love if the number rose to around 400,000 worlwide. I believe one day it will. Our numbers keep growing.

Chris Hanson did a Dateline NBC special on them last year. It's what got me interested in the first place! It was pretty funny watching him meet with one of the lads. As soon as he said who he was and that he was investigating, the lad took off in a mad dash down the street! Talk about some entertainment!

I belong to several other boards in my other life, and ever once in a while someone is so shocked to recieve a lottery scam, or a charity scam and asks if it is legit.

Last week I got fed up with saying yes it is a scam, and made up a scam email primer, listing the types of scams and what they really are. Each board has well over 1000 members, so there should be at least 3000 Canadians who now know something.

Then, I emailed to a friend who is one of those people who forwards warning emails to every person she knows. This should be making the internet rounds shortly.

Watchdog won't like it, they can't pin in on Trading Standards flaws.

I don't really spread the word. I've made sure my family members are aware of them, and I think they've told some of their friends as well. And like pwwbear I am a member of several boards where someone will say "OMGWTF I WON �7 JILLION IN EMAIL FROM NIGERIA IS IT LEGIT!!???!!! LOL", but I never got as far as a primer for it, so congrats to pwwbear for having more determination and patience.

^^^Snigger, I think the problem is that most people see 419 scamming as a very minority thing. They get the email and erase it straight away without considering that people may fall for it.
Mind you, it's the sort of thing someone like Jonathan Ross might be interested in for his radio show, especially if someone sent him a couple of funny baits.
