Helped my brother and his girlfriend move to their new house today.
He got rid of loads and loads of old stuff and he wound up with one van and my (little red) car full of his belongings. And with the help of 6 good friends (+ sister and S.O.) they got all of that stuff into the new place by lunchtime.

Tomorrow they'll be moving his girlfriends stuff into their new home. And then they can start getting settled. Thankheaven I don't have to move right now. ...

I hate moving, you never realize how much useless crap you've collected until you have to put it all into boxes. Shocked

margory, That is so nice of you to help.

I don't think that I will ever move.
My home will be paid for in Sept. 08 and we have totally redone everything. We did all the designing ourselves and we are very proud. It is not a mansion by no means. It's like a doll house, small and sweet. And you should see my gardens. Cool

I have this huge hot pink azealea bush and a car coming by will stop just to look. One lady told me it looked good enough to lick.
I won't tell you where Lovey went with that. Wink

Youngest son is moving out today. He is sharing an apartment in a resort with 2 others.
The house is starting to echo, what with 5 bedrooms and only hubby, daughter and me here now.
Three spare rooms if anyone is heading this way. Very Happy

Since hubby and I married a couple of years ago, we have moved 4 times Sad

Eventually buying our own home together 6 months ago.
We said we'd never leave, then we heard about the most fantastic beach house at the right price.
We decided to go for it, then, we though about moving. (Again)
F**k the beach.

I sympathise our eldest move out a couple of years ago, So sad when they start to leave the nest....
Now she's move back, with more stuff
Hubby says to stop feeding them, it only encourages them, etc etc

@ margory . glad it went well.

We moved my BIL a few weeks ago. They hadn't packed! Nothing aaargh
plenty helpers, trailers, cars etc but its not just a question of picking up and moving in.
Then sis in law took ill and was rushed to hospital in the middle of moving, so we had to give up.
Did a bit over the next week then the next weekend , before the keys needed handed over, hubby, BIL and me knocked ourselves out trying to clear the rest of the old house.
SIL still in intensive care.
Neighbour came to the door as I was cleaning the old place.
To ask after sis in law? to help? to offer cuppa?
No to shout at ME as there was a table outside ( waiting on next trip)
He was rally irate,
I tried to explian situation. ie we're moving,
lady ill
coming back for table
but NO he ranted and ranted and ranted.

But I'm a forgiving soul and won't mention his behaviour on an international bulletin board Laughing

PS Bahookie is a council estate in Scotland's capital city ( near the zoo and airport )

Moving house is the worst thing to do ever, but it has to be done! Sad

Thats why we've stayed put for over 25 years.
(Squished in, with too many teenagers living here)
our relatives do it often though.
My mum has moved all over the country, even to England, and back. Her last move was " just around the corner" " wont need a van " HA
But fell for it again with BIL move, just along the road to a new build.
Due to move ma in law soon, hopefully to a better insulated, disable adapted, easier to maintain house and joy of joys, removal firm employed

Last time I moved, hired movers. Won't ever do it any other way again. It is expensive, but worth it. Makes you make sure that you want to move before you do....

My problem is , as been said on another thread I have a portakabin on wheels ( volvo estate ) I'm looked upon as free resource when it comes to flitting

I really love where we live and cant see us moving, good shops, schools, parks, access to city centre.
And it's paid for now
We have great equity but as my neighbour said that" wont put the beans on the table"
We are now in the situation that our kids cant afford to rent/buy round here
It may be crowded but we have so many memories here, the utility cupboard door still has the kids height marks on it. Just added to it the other day, when youngest is now officially taller than me.

I'm the only one out of my family to stay in the place where our mothers were raised, can see my granny's old house from my window
