Dear Customer,
Our robot has fixed an abnormal activity from your IP address on
sending e-mails.
Probably it is connected with the last epidemic of a worm which does
not have patches at the moment.
We recommend you to install a firewall module and it will stop e-mail
sending. Otherwise your account will be blocked until you do not
eliminate
malfunction.

An insult! You are too insane.
If it didn't come from a zombied computer then it came from a throwaway account that will never be used again. Erase it and forget it. You will get more.
"Their is an attachment" should use "There" in this case. |

^^ with knowledge sometimes meaning 'the person isn't aware that it's there' but most of the times more something like 'the person is to stupid to recognize it as something messing about on his system'. |

Just make sure you have a good virus scanner, that should cope with the majority of the viruses around. There's plenty available, several free ones too which are really good (www.avast.com for example).
Then (for the 0.1% that isn't caught by the scanner because too new) use some common sense. For example, a word document should have a .doc extension, not .doc.scr, .doc.exe, .doc.com or .doc.pif or such. A normal MS-Office document you get from your day-to-day scammer should not contain macros. Pictures are usually safe.
Best practice is to save the attachment on your hard disk instead of directly click-and-open it. This gives you the time to properly investigate it before you open it. Storing an infected file on your hard disk will not cause it to trigger and make it do its dirty work. Your virus scanner however should be triggered at that moment - if is up to date.
Your average mugu will not voluntary send you viruses because he doesn't want to scare you off. |
