WTF is this all about and how do i overcome this

Do you have a 1.44Mb floppy drive? If so, check there is no disc in there... Sounds like you have a non-bootable disc in a boot drive (don't know if this affects CD-ROMS and the like though). |

Leaving a diskette in the floppy drive and booting the machine is the second best way to get a nasty virus, the first being klicking on email attatchments.
If you have some reasonable anti-virus software running, it should inform you that you forgot the disk in the drive on power down. |

Not a lot of people know this, but that error message is generated by a program running from the floppy disk. It does boot, it just doesn't do very much.
I have a floppy disk somewhere where I changed that text to "Thank-you for installing this virus". It even scares me, and I wrote it. |
