At least one member of my family was at Gallipoli, and he was Irish. Someone else mentioned the Boer War - some of my relations fought there too, but they were Boers, plus another who wasn't in the British Army! Laughing

Which just sums up for me how daft wars are. I have forefathers who are reviled by my countrymen as traitors and murderers, because they fought against them. Yet they also gave up that particular struggle to fight against a bigger enemy, and were none to popular with their countrymen as a result. It would seem that in some cases you really can't win.

However, while it may sometimes seem to our ANZAC brethern that their sacrifice is forgotten, it's not. Ever.
