Good morning guys, my name is joe and i met a girl on true.com who started conversing with
me last week. She says she is model from Hamilton, New Jersey. She claims she was born and raised in Ottawa Canada. Parents are diorced, mother moved back to canada. Fathers whereabouts unknown. She is now on photo shoot for opening of new hotel in niger. I copied email and headers for you. She is worried she will be stuck in niger with no money to get home.
Thanx for the mail,am so glad.I have been here since 3weeks ago and i will be back on Saturday.I have been a model for 3years,I do most of my modeling in Europe and this is my first time in Africa,I do have more pictures and i will be very happy to send some to you later. My mom is a Canadian but My Dad is from the states so i have a duel citizenship.I live by myself in my dad's home in Hamilton NJ,i haven't seen him for a very long time and i also don't know where he presently reside. He never cares to know my way of living since he divorce my Mom and my Mom presently move back to Canada where she belongs.I am just 3months old in the area and i don't know much about it yet,i hope you will be more than happy to show me all around when i get back?I think i would say am on my own since I have no friend in NJ because my work takes me out of the states very often,I love what i do simply because it makes me see new places.I think i would stop modelling someday when i found my soulmate so as to have enough time for my family but i don't know exactly what to do yet.Whom do you live with and why are you still single?

Hi riker1, and welcome to Eater. Smile

The English sounds very odd for someone raised in Canada and living in the US with Canadian and American parents, and the quick request for help cashing a cheque makes me extremely suspicious. I haven't checked the IPs but I don't really need to; it smells like the classic fake cheque scam to me.

The banks like to clear checks for customers as quickly as possible, so they may show some or all of the proceeds of the check in a victims account before the bank knows for sure that the check is legitimate. The victim thinks that everything is fine, so sends off the money to the scammer. Some time later, the bank realises that the check is forged or stolen, and debits the victims account. The victim is out of pocket however much they sent on to the scammer. In most countries, the law says that it is up to you (not your bank) to know who you are dealing with - if you are dealing with a criminal, it is your problem (not theirs). The bank will almost certainly not be liable, even if they have shown the amount as cleared, and their terms and conditions make this clear in most instances. The victim may also find that their account is closed and/or that they are arrested or investigated by the police for money laundering.

I'd drop "her" fast. The chances are "she" is a burly lad with a long history of scamming people, and you;'re best off ceasing all contact. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if you were getting attached. Sad

yes!! scam, for sure!!

don't give any personal info to this one.
I've seen hundreds of scams with the same story content.
this scam is being conducted by male west africans, using pictures stolen from an internet model site.
if some lady talked to you on the phone its not the girl in the pictures....who is not involved and has no idea her pictures are being used.
if somebody talked to you on the phone it was a female paid to make the call....probably with a strange accent......not the girl in the pictures!

click on the link to the romancescam.com forum at the bottom of this post and you will see many scams like this, and probably find her pictures, also.

I think there is something missing in all headers you posted.

You are probably on AOL, this is where AOL comes from.

She is writing to you from Yahoo e-mail addy, thus Yahoo's IP.

But there should be another, last Received from line, with her real IP. And it's missing, from all headers.

Unless you post ALL received from lines, we will be just guessing here.

Scam, scam, scam. I've seen that script a few times. The pictures "she" will send are inevitably some lesser-known web porn princess.

This particular type of scam (and I've only baited 2) doesn't provide for much fun. Just like they seem to get right to the point and ask you for money, they seem to just lose interest and disappear if you try to string them along.

Then again, maybe my insisting on the terms of "oral first, money later" had some influence on the mugu's decision - it's hard to say. Feel free to have some fun with this one, just DON'T send "her" anything except an empty promise or two!

If there is ever any question that she is a scammer, send her another response from a second e-mail account, using another name. . . you will get duplicate replies to both e-mail accounts, both swearing undying love to you and you alone. . .

Also, modeling agencies don't work that way. For one thing, they don't pay immediately - the client pays the agency who turns around and pays the model, and it's all net-30 type stuff. They wouldn't pay in a money order which is crazy for several reasons, and they wouldn't be sending them wherever you happen to be, they'd send them to your regular address or most likely use direct deposit like everybody else in the US.

Oh, and needless to say they wouldn't send a model off someplace without a return ticket in hand already!

And how long is she supposed to have been down there? Day rate for a decent model is a lot of money.

Now is when to start messing with "her" a bit! Something like "No kidding - I lived in Sacramento for 7 years!" and start asking what neighbourhood "she" lives in. Ask for lots of details, have some fun.

You might not know anything about Sacramento, but "she" sure as heck doesn't either! It doesn't actually accomplish anything except taking up the scammer's time, but you just might get a good signature quote out of the whole thing.

about 8 months back or so, i was talking to somebody on yahoo, turned out she was a model *she claims she was* and she sent me pictures. She even gave me her phone number i never called. She started telling me she wanted to come see me and only had $500 and she needed an additional $500, . I did not send her any money, she then said begged me, eventually i told her she is scamming me. She lived in Lagos as well. which raised red flags.

I even told her i will report her to FBI and i will be calling the Nigerian police and so forth. She still said that she is not a scammer. After a few days she email me and told me to get on yahoo msg where we talked , and she told me something totally out of this world she agreed to send me money of $500 and when i get it by western Union i will send her the $500 plus the $500 of my own money. I thought about it and but it seemed to good to be true, cause i would have just kept the $500 and sent her jack back.. All I thought about was that she was going to scam me still somehow.
Only last week i sent her an email if she is around and she replied back and was asking me if i got married and so forth, I will see where she goes with it this time.

Don't take the money.

I believe the money may be financed by a stolen credit card.

Western Union has online money transfers where you can send money
from a credit card.

"she" will send you money from someone's stolen credit card. When the vic
calls the police, guess who they will be looking for?

The scammer whose wearabouts are unknown?

Or the guy who has his personal information on a WU transfer form?

Ditto. The money is bound to be "hot". Also, baiting for cash is no longer the done thing; it's just too close to what the lads are trying to do to us, and we really shouldn't stoop to their level.

Still, that's not to say that you can't get your lad to send the money to a completely bogus person. I'm sure there are plenty of new WU modalities you can explore as a disgtuntled (non) receiver of cash. You might still even get them to go to v3r1fys3c or call the DisService number on your behalf.

Perhaps you could even talk them into collecting the cash themselves, so that when the card transaction bounces, the cops may have something to go on. Twisted Evil
