Was shown on British telly last night. End of an era, boy am I sad. Why is it all the good stuff is cancelled when crud like Eastenders goes on for (seemingly) centuries?

Dang, i knew i missed something! although some shows really should keep going, sometimes its best they end before getting worn out completely, but sometimes they get cancelled cos ratings drop. which is a pisser for fans Evil or Very Mad

Yes, shows can get tired. But Stargate had just had a nice refresher with a few new faces and a great story line. Sorry, I'm welling up......

Not watched it yet, Sky+'ed it... Looks bloody fantastic though.

Its not all over though:-

If you check IMDB for Stargate SG1, you will notice there are two feature-length episodes in production for next year, which would be sweet...

I'd hazard a guess that Stargate costs just a tiny bit more per episode than Eastenders Smile

Mrs. Shiver is a huge Stargate fan, and is gutted it has come to an end. I've been drip feeding her episodes of Stargate Atlantis, but she told me, "It's crap. Find me something better!" I must admit, I find Atlantis a pretty poor effort.

I'm a fan of Stargate (even to the point of signing up for a Stargate-themed Live Action Role-Playing group) but I couldn't stay with Stargate: Atlantis. It just didn't work for me.

Mrs Shiver has excellent taste in more ways than one it seems... Cool

Atlantis is ok, but nothing beats SG1. I thought it was bad enough when they cancelled Farscape Sad

^^^ Yeah, Farscape got cancelled, so the cast invaded Stargate. FarGate was then born...

Have to admit, I never liked Farscape, but really loved the addition of Ben Browder and Claudia Black to Stargate - they are both fantastic at what they do, and keep the right balance of humour in Richard Dean Anderson's absence... The outdoor "picnic" scene at Browder's parents house in the High School Reunion episode was comedy genius! Laughing

... and Teal'c has a great sense of humour these days... How many times I've almost wet myself at some of his "one-liners" is unbelievable. Laughing

The final episodes begin airing on the Sci-Fi channel in the U.S. next month. I'll be sad to see it go. I find that BSG is better than Atlantis, and the only reason why I watched Atlantis is because it used to come on between SG-1 and BSG, so it appears I won't have any reason to tune in to watch Atlantis in the future, since SG-1 will be gone, and BSG is now on Sunday nights.

Farscape is one of my favorite all time science fiction shows. I miss the days of Farscape, Stargate SG-1 and Lexx on "Sci-Fi Friday". Sad

Good thing I have Quake IV and Doom III, along with pokerstars.com. Very Happy

maybe a silly question but... with all the baiting you do (which takes me a few hours, although admittedly I'm not a keyboard racer), and all the telly you watch... and all the PC/Console games you play, and all the time you spend on this forum... do you people actually have jobs? Or do you just neglect your wife and kids? Laughing

My wife get's frustrated/angry/livid when I spend anything over 2.4 nanoseconds on my own behind my PC.... (given the fact it took me about a minute to type this message I'm due a beating any time nowI s'pose....)

Anyway, having said that : Stargate? Jeez... loada crap I think. Just as bad as Star Trek and the like.... but that's just my taste Wink

I'd rather watch the 4400 or Heroes....

I used to like Stargate, but stopped watching after about 4 series.

I do still cry about Space Above and Beyond getting cancelled tho. Crying or Very sad

I moaned to Virgin about lack of Sky1 citing Lost, SG1 Simpson as fave progs ( well one was true ) and got upgraded package costing less than I was paying Laughing
