Hello fellow Scambaiters.
In reality I am quite gifted in the writing department. And so I created a nice email identity to have a bit of fun with and see if I can't waste some scammer-time with some meandering make-believe. How far down the rabbit hole will they follow until they learn their fluffy tail has been singed? 
My main email account gets flooded with the odd offers of free money, acquisitions, lottery winnings, and oh yes, apparently my Barclays account has been frozen. Ho hum... what shall I do?
Copy, paste into baiter-mail, modify, and wait for them to get on board.
You know the legend of the Kelpie... a inviting horse standing by a river or steam bank. When the victim climbs on for a ride, the horse-hide becomes tar. Unable to get off, the victim is plunged into the waters at the Kelpie's mercy. I thought it was a fitting moniker.
Anyway, looking forward to giving a few lads the fun ride!

We have some great storytellers here, and there's always room for more.
Good to see you're using a baiter email and not your real one -- do make sure that when you are modifying the original mail you remove everything linked to your real email addy. Sounds like you are doing this but worth being cautious, especially if you are pasting in message headers as well as the content when you reply.

You can also post scam email you get in Surplus and Scamwarners. Remove all trace of your identity before you post (I have a sed script for doing that to the headers; occasionally a lad puts my catcher's name in the body, which I have to edit manually). Scams posted in Surplus are for other baiters to bait; scams posted in Scamwarners are for potential victims to recognize and avoid. |
