I just finished a 2 month bait with Mrs Asshat

I was surprised that the first few mornings and evenings when I sat down to my laptop there was a tiny sense of....."something".

I was her confidant, friend and secret partner for two months. I sought for my "actions" and replies to meet with her approval. And now I will never hear from her again.

Maybe I'm getting too far into character Laughing

Am I alone in this. (I think not.)

My Baits don't end unless I want them to. Okay that is probably a curse but hey they always come back.

^^ That is a curse in my book because I just want some of the whiny idiots I bait to go away and never darken my inbox again.

To answer the question . . . . sometimes I do if a good bait ends and I'm having trouble getting another one going strong. I miss having a bait that's at a point I don't have to do much work to get a lad to jump through hoops. Sometimes if a lad's really, really entertaining, I'll pick him up again with another character.

I don't miss my Darlings after I've ended my baits on them. I feel I'm baiting the same Knuckleheads over and over anyway. Just that they are using different E-mail addy's. (as am I)

I definitely feel a sense of loss when a bait ends ..... unless I was the one who decided to end things. (sometimes I just stop replying to leave the scammer wondering).

This is only the case if I've invested much in a bait - if I've just tried to grab a few pigs and then be done, doesn't matter much. Often I will come back a year or more later and send a new message to all the emails associated with a long-dead bait just in the hope that we will rekindle our relationship.

There are some baits where the stars align – I come to love playing my character and the lad’s responses off script are entertaining and really give me a sense of his personality. Those I miss when they are over. Like Firehouse, often long after that kind of bait ends I will send a spontaneous message to the lad just to recapture the magic. Very Happy

Sometimes I go in for a quick piggy grab, but the next thing I know I am deep into my character and the lad turns out to be one of those “special” ones who makes me laugh every time he replies. I always miss the ones who crack me up.

It depends on the lad. If I was close to a sandtimer or a safari, and I fall short, then yes. If it's a lad who drops me in frustration after a month or two (which is usually the shortest my baits go), then I don't think much of it. I'll prod him a few times to see if I can revive the bait, but it's definitely done, I just look for another one and start over.

Mostly my baits have been bundling several characters on a lad in succession to grab resources - piggies, trophies, time and overall trying to put him off his chosen lifestyle. Frankly, when one like that ends with the lad not responding even to new characters I introduce, well, I take that as a job well done, and move on to the next one.

The ones I miss the most are the mass-baits with a willing and pliable lad or set of lads, and a load of mixed-ability baiters, it's great to see newbs learning the ropes and having a laugh, as well as the old-timers working at their hilarious (and sometimes cruelly comic) best. Roll on the Gomer new year's Party.

There are several lads and baits that I miss. I really had a great time with the General of all Generals and his sidekick Lopez. I miss those phone calls the most.

And, of course, Femi, who was totally wrapped around my finger. Team Femi got a few safaris out of him Laughing

And of course, the naked pics and the gay rights thing was classic! I even got him to meet Shorty.

There was a hitlad that I turned into a massbait and I really miss him. I forget his lad name, but I had convinced him to call himself sphincter man or something.

And there was a massbait someone else started about the CERN project and a black hole and this lad was going to fly us all to a remote island to survive it. I forget his name, but it was a lot of fun, and he contacted me several times after the bait ended (mainly asking for money).

Those were good times.

Yes, but I miss the bait, not really the lad. One of my first and most successful baits was a lad I baited for two years continuously, and a third year off and on. We both had tons of characters, the story was ridiculous and it seemed he was my lad for life. He never dropped me - I'm the one who let the bait fizzle because I got bored and busy with other things. I ran other baits on him, sometimes simultaneously, but none were as fun as that bait.

I do get a sense of loss, mostly with the longer baits.
It's almost like after you finish watching the season finale of a tv show you liked.

Do I miss the lad themself? No - they were never real with me, any more than I was real with them.

Do I miss the fun of having a particular lad believing everything I say? Absolutely. That was fun.

But now I will aim at doing it again.

I don't miss the lads at all, but I do miss their 'character' they portray especially in longer baits, and the mental torture they suffer thinking payday is repeatedly just around the corner. Oh the frustration...
