Hey folks!

In the spirit of Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, and all the other trading cards games out there, we were thinking about creating a set of "Lad Trading Cards". There's no great purpose behind this, and it's doubtful we'd ever be able to play a game with them, so let's just think of this as a fun way to do some team-building, get to know some other folks, or serve as a nice way to mark the end of a bait or to commemorate a special moment in a bait.

I have attached a template that we can use for standardizing the cards, which uses the standard trading card size (2.5" x 3.5"), so we could probably print up sets for anyone who wants one (with all proceeds going to Eater). I was thinking that the larger circle would be the "casting cost" for the lad (i.e the number of months he has been on the hook), while the smaller circles can show what you've done to them (piggies, safaris, etc). The title block at the top could be either the name of the bait or the name of the lad, and we can use the text at the bottom to list out the lad's "powers", a favorite quote from the lad, the baiter ID's, etc.

We can change the color of the border easily enough and, in keeping with the trading card themes where different borders mean different things, we were thinking about having the border indicate the type of scam the lad ran. For example:

Romance (red)
Gold Lads (yellow)
Hitlads (black)
General Inheritance/NOK (white)
Former dictator/king/president i.e. Gadaffi's daughter (purple)
Dying widow (blue)
Trunk box lads (brown)
Loan lads (green)
Credit Card (navy)
Orphanage lads (orange)
Special lads/extraordinary baits (multi-color)

For pictures, we figure it will probably be easier for us to get started by using existing pics of some of our old friends, and then we can branch out into some newer lads. Since we're trying to have fun with this, we don't want to get too sticky about the rules -- about the only pictures we wouldn't allow would be any goodies from a lad's starter kit. Any original photo (or even an obvious photochop -- as long as the lad put some work into it) is fair game. And, if you want to have some fun and try to get a picture of a lad in an action pose (or something that would be found on a Magic/baseball card), go for it!
