Great job! I love how he tried to pretend he knew all along.
I'm curious....are you observing any improvement in victim susceptibility...now as compared to several years ago?
I've been following these types of romance scams on multiple websites since 2006 and it seems like the numbers of victim stories/reports are declining on most of these sites. Do you think that increased awareness is resulting in decreasing numbers of victims for this particular type of online scam?
Thanks. |

Hi Dina
Thanks. It's really fun to read what the lad says, pretending that he knew everything from beginning, hahaha. But he missed the fact that my objective is just to waste his time
I am not so sure about any changes in past few years but I heard that the scammers are shifting from the dating sites to SNS like Facebook and Google+. Funny things are, these Facebook scammers are assuming that if someone accepts his friend request, then that means the person also accepted relationship. But majority of users are just click accept to any incoming requests, and they do not bother whoever it is and not even talk with stranger but just leave him listed as friends. Only few respond to the lads. |

My guess is that these lads do their black magic mumbo jumbo thinking they are putting anyone who accepts their friend request under their "love and devotion" spell. Idiots. |

Sorry to intrude
My guess is that this people are spreading their target audience beyond what we usually see.
I live in Argentina, and my Skype clearly says so, yet I get a lot of requests from scammers where they start with the usual "hello dear" in English!
That is odd for 2 reasons: One, exchange rates and general population "free cash" makes it, in my opinion, less profitable; and two, foreign transfers are monitored and you need approval from the taxman and a valid reason (an invoice that matches your taxes status, proof of the person you are sending money to is a relative, etc.) so it's unlikely they'll be able to get money easily.
So, I believe they are spreading their target audience without a lot of research... Why? Hopefully because it's getting harder to find people in their usual spots. |
