Hi,
now, recently, I have received lots of phishing scam mails into my catcher. Knowing my way around them and being a scambaiter, I thought to myself: Could these be taken by baiting...
You know, something like this:
1. You place (using proxies or something), like, millions of "faked" victim data.
2. "Real" victim data gets buried under this faked data - scammers would have to weed out all the non-working accounts.
2.1. If they sell the data unused, maybe the buyer tries a couple, tells the scammer it's fake and the data remains unused at all.
Has anyone ever tried that? Of course, that would be a lot of typing work (It's not like I'm quite skilled with scripting ) and with 1, there is a (slight) risk of IPP involvement... Still, whaddyathink?
Regards

We don't risk ITPs. Period. And we don't spam.
Plus our site is devoted to AFF. Certainly there are enough scammers to keep us busy. |

Like Capone pointed out - if there is slight risk of ITP involvement that you know about - don't do it at all.
If you encounter phishing site - the best you can do is - report their email, try to close their website (on your own - that does not belong in the Fake Banks Sites forum nor does it award you a flag, by the way) and that is as much damage as you can do.
No scammer is going to weed out information, and if those are fake it's not fault of the "wrong batch" but could simply be people changing passwords around. Usually right after they realize / are told what they've done and what exactly is phishing.
As far as baiting goes, since these are usually distributed by machine with no intentions to email with the victim back and forth, there is little to no baiting potential. |
