The impossible has occurred – though I thought the day would never come, the announcement arrived in my Private Messages today.
Inspector Gadget, my exasperated, beleaguered, long-suffering Mentor, informed me that he has finally had his fill of me, that I would be receiving official notification from CMP, and that I have been shoved from beneath his wing and kicked outta the nest for good.
How Inspector Gadget survived my gross bungling incompetence -- which nearly always bordered on idiocy – remains a constant source of amazement for me, and surely must be some sort of modern-day miracle.
Though I pestered him relentlessly, bedeviled him constantly, annoyed him endlessly, plagued him with my clumsiness, and just generally vexed him to tears with the vastness of my ignorance and inability, somehow Inspector Gadget arose above and beyond the treacherous torrent of my ineptitude and managed to mentor me with unfathomable intelligence, kindness, fearlessness, patience and grace.
Do Graduates typically suffer Mentor withdrawal? Is it survivable?
Thanks bajillions for everything, Inspector Gadget – no way I could have made it this far without your fine Mentorship. (I am particularly grateful for your fine examples of “Mr. Innocent Delivers Lad Slappage”) …
