If you have any love lads on the hook who are using Google +, please check to see who they have as friends in their circle as there could be victims they are friends with, I found 3 on a love lad profile last night and scamwarners are now taking care of them.

If you do find any profiles that look genuine then please report them to a mod before they send any money, its another opportunity to save victimd Smile

@Father Moleman – While I agree totally with you regarding aiding Potential Victims, I do question the evidence that you might have found that warrants warning someone found on a Google + Profile. Many Lads will have RL friends as their contacts or even other Fake profiles that they are using to Scam with and consequently ‘Warning’ them will do nothing more than Educate a Lad or Lads which is something that we really try to discourage around here.

Can you point me to the Scamwarners Thread and perhaps the Evidence that you collected in order to deem these Contacts as Victims? Hey I’m trying to learn eh?

Of course, I probably should have elaborated more really, my example is Mr Dempsey Guthrie, a love lad who is pretending to be a US Army Soldier, [email protected].

He had three young women in his friends whose profiles looked like genuine people so I handed them over to SW. I should have been more specific, I mean more lads like that who have a false identity and a profile picture. My bad Embarassed

I respect your willingness for helping victims as this should be your main priority as a baiter and member of 419Eater. Keeping the lad busy and away from real victims is the second one while giving him hell is a distant third.

Anyone can bait a lad and it so happens, from time to time, that some of us are baiting the exact same lad for different reasons: some are baiting to get the details of the scam and to warn victims by posting those details and contacting the victims they are aware of while baiting the scammer yet others are baiting for fun - keeping the lad busy and away from the real victims. Some - and I like to believe those last ones are just a small number - are baiting a lad only for a trophy or a stupid reply in their signature line.

In this particular case:

If you do a simple search in Google, you will see that this particular scammer is not even reported on SW.

This particular lad was baited almost a year ago and thus we can assume, for the conversation's sake, that if in any of his profiles are real victims, those victims haven’t been warned yet? Again this is an assumption only but one that needs to be addressed.

Without the intention to lecture you in any way; deciding if a profile befriended by a scammer is real or not you need to do some more work. Most of the scammers have other fake personae they are using for scams and they are friends with their own profiles trying to make themselves look genuine. Some of these scammers also have baiters in those profiles as friends. Like Oscar Piles (or Mr. Big Johnson as he likes to be called) said above, some scammers have RL friends in those profiles as well.

It may help if, before asking the SW team to warn victims, you do a little research about those profiles since the warning team is dealing with a lot of cases and if you can provide as much detail as possible this will definitely ease their work load and that isn't a bad thing in my books.
