"Too much thinking" can have dire medical consequences and can land one in the hospital. Too much stress and/or disappointment can also result in serious medical problems.

In hospitals and hotels in Africa...they hold you hostage until you pay your total bill. You can also be thrown in prison for owing money to anyone there.

Travellers cheques (checks) can't be cashed whilst abroad. They need to be sent back to someone in the country of origin, cashed and the money sent back by Western Union.

It is possible to receive an Email from your wife saying she is stranded in Limassol, Cyprus with no money whilst she is asleep in bed next to you.

I was amazed to learn that West Africa (especially Ghana) is simply crawling with lots of young, single, beautiful white females...who, in fact, look like sexy porn stars. Never knew so many young, blonde, blue-eyed beauties had Ghanian grannies.

I had to deal with one of those (except it was just "the city of South Cyprus") yesterday. It wasn't from my wife (I'm single) but from someone I know, sent to a mailing list, and I answered that it looked like a scam written by a West African, and could someone get a hold of her by means other than email?

I have learned the relatively obscure country of Paraguay is just full of people who have successfully helped transfer money out Africa to help get the money to their rightful owners and help them in investment opportunities.

@Mortal: If it takes 5 emails to make her fall in love, obviously you need to step up your game a bit Smile

Men of the church (pastors, missionaries) are remarkably lacking in common sense (and friends). They routinely:
-travel halfway around the world with the only keys to their homes in their possession, and nobody who can get inside to handle emergencies or show the property to prospective tenants.
-buy or breed puppies right before they leave for some obscure post in another country with an impossibly hot climate, forcing them to go online to find some random individual to ship said puppies to.
-forget the names, sexes, and ages of their children when hiring au pairs.
-trust random individuals to move into their empty homes or take care of their children, based on a few emails.
