Well it was a balmy and sunny 50 yesterday. So my furnace decided it need a rest and broke. Evil or Very Mad

Just in time for the temperature to start going back down. Needed repair parts will be here Tuesday. Supposed to go back down to 0 tonight Evil or Very Mad

^ I started to keep spares in my house for just such occasions. Right now I have an extra igniter and IC Board ready to go JIC I need them.

We may have to run the house heater for the first time this year unless it warms up today. Last night we put on another blanket and one of the cats came into bed with us.

I had to run the defrost on the car this morning. I hate that because I drive a hybrid and it takes almost as much power to run the defrost as it does to push the car down the road. It got down to 51 degrees outside and I did not garage the car last night.

I don't have a stand alone, but have a fireplace insert. Same principle, but it fits inside the fireplace opening. It heats the entire house. Until I figured out how to 'fine tune' the damper, it would damn near burn us out of the room. I've had to open the doors a time or two to cool the room back off, if I don't pay attention to it. Even if it's well below freezing outside, it can heat the living room up to 85. Quickly and easily.

We had an insert years ago, and later a stand-alone. However, now we have only the electric heat, and it has to work really hard to keep up.

GAHWD ALMIGHTY! 20 to 0 and back to 20 C in 48 hour intervals. Dealing with a 0 right now and the heater went out. Time to go bang on it a bit. Laughing

ETA: Seems to have fixed it right on up. Granted, not the coldest I have been in and would have survived the night below freezing for sure. It just wouldn't have been.... comfortable. Laughing

I was seriously doing the mental routine tonight when the heater was down of "you have been in colder.... Siberia, North Sea, Alberta and Saskatchewan in the dead middle of winter." Thank God for central heating and beer. From what I've studied it's proof that God loves us an wants us to be happy. Laughing

^ I pulled out the backpack I carried with me while doing some stuff in Kamchatka just in case. That definitely had some below freezing gear in it.
