Precise. Calamari, means, the place to dip reed pens, i.e. inkwell. Actually, in italian inkwell is calamaio, and in sicilian, calamaro.

And another bean recipe, even if I don't enjoy it too much myself, but many people swear by it. It's just that salted cod isn't really my thing.

1. Take a nice piece of salted cod loin. De-salt by placing it in cold water, changing every 24 hours until nice and soft.

2. Shred to very fine pieces.

3. chop up fresh tomatoes, onions and (bell) peppers.

4. Place over cold white beans. Drizzle with olive oil, red wine or sherry vinegar.

Eat.

Has no-one mentioned Anne Margaret in Tommy yet?

UK food critic Jay Rayner, doing a TV article on pretentious menus went to a transport cafe in London offering (IIRC):

Slow cooked Haricot beans marinaded in a vine tomato jus,
served warm on grilled panini.

No-one fancied it much, it was of course baked beans on toast.

So the place where you can pick your own Cranberries was closed the other day which thrilled me to no end because I'm not one to enjoy the togetherness of clambering around a Bog to save a few Bucks. Then I saw the alternative and poured myself another glass of Wine to ease the pain:

A few years back I was with my Okie Family in a restaurant and my Brother in Law asked if the Fish was fresh.

The Waiter responded:

‘Yes Sir! It is flown in every day from Albuquerque.’

He had the Steak….
