Ok. So this post is only to clear the smoke on my last romace thread, this will be only refering to my bait and will in no way touch on any of the other themes that were touched. And I'm doing this because I feel that it is important for me to put it out there and give an explanation on my actions and process of thought.

First than anything, YES, I have dropped the bait.

I dropped it because he sent me more than I was asking for and that is what tipped me off. of course now in restrospective and with the feedback I got I see that I should have dropped it earlier but I didn't and I can't change that.

I never baited him "just because he was from Nigeria" there were things I felt made a strong case for him being a scammer, like the fact that he was a student of computer science but could not send an email, or the fact that he fell in love in two days, or even that his IP showed him somewhere and he said he was from somewhere else.

to clarify to Padme, indeed he was using his real photos, he sent me other three photos and they were of the same person in soccer outfil (as I asked), so either it was him or someone he knew, and they are part of the reasons I dropped the bait.

I don't want to come out as the bad guy, since I really thought I had taken all the precautions, and I thank all the feedback I got on the forum and my PM's, and I prommise to be more careful on my next baits.

Right now I think that is all I can say and I hope that is clarifies how and why I acted, and please, everybody, have a great day

You are in no way viewed as 'the bad guy'.
It's difficult at first in the rom scam area as to who is who on dating sites.
We've all made mistakes, learned and moved on.
You'll get a nice fake soldier soon, I have a feeling about this...

Hahaha I am talking to an american soldier who writes very funny and, as you read on my ciclical scammer post, just repeats himself sometimes... do you think this could be the one?

For romance scams, it's very difficult sometimes to know if it's an ITP or a scammer. Some of them are so very good that you don't find out until 2-3 months (or more) that your gut feeling is correct.

Ginger is correct, you did absolutely nothing wrong. You're doing a great job. Razz

Doc, Just wanted to add that I also do not think you did anything wrong, and you do not give the impression (at least not to me) that you were baiting this fellow because he was Nigerian. My comment about the photos was made because I was impressed with the speed in which it was determined that the photos were both real and belonging to the person sending them. In any event, happy hunting. I'm very much looking forward to the developing romance between you and your American soldier.
