Hi
Have I been scammed?
A girl wanted to skype me. So I did. She looked the same as her profile.
Trouble is she has 3 or 4 profiles all with different names and ages within France.
She went to Africa (Ivory coast) and called me. Didn't sound 'French' to me.
What do I make of that?
She even offered to meet me here in England or pay for me to go to France.
Sorry if I posted this before not sure if I sent it
Thanks |

Probably a scammer. If someone I don't know tries to contact me, I generally refuse the contact. (My Skype account is not for baiting other Skypers, but I do receive bait calls on a Skype number and talk with baiters.) If someone leaves me a message saying "Video message received", I report that as a violation to Skype (there's no way to tell them what the violation is).
When you talk with her in French, is she understandable? Do you know what a West African accent sounds like?
You may be better off asking at Scamwarners. |

Well like I said I do know what french sounds like and she sounded African.
Why would she offer to pay for me to meet her in France when she has three or four different profiles/areas?
As of yet she's not asked for any money |

Hello Whatsup, and welcome!
Give her time, she'll get around to the question I'm sure. |

Which actually means one of two things:
a) (more common scenario) The scammer is using faked webcam from existing video. Usually when this is the case they are using photos/video of online porn actresses.
b) The woman on skype is the scammer or part of a gang. While this is less common in general, it is a little more likely when Ivory Coast is involved--in my experience, there are more women involved in scam gangs from Ivory Coast than from other countries.

Scammers offer all kinds of things--doesn't mean they ever intend to deliver. All kinds of emergencies can come up before they actually have to deliver on their offers.
Or--when skype is involved if the scammer is really on camera, I'v also seen scammers convince victims to compromise themselves on webcam and then move to blackmail. |

Ah,
So how do you hit back? She seems quite blatant about it?
I don't mean this the wrong way and I don't mean to be racist but she is white and french.
Why would she want to get involved with blacks living in Africa?
I am sensitive about this so please don't take it the wrong way.
I have been in contact with her about a month and she hasn't asked anything of me yet? |

First, odds are it's not a "she". Whoever appeared on cam is unlikely to be the actual scammer. You haven't mentioned how long you have been in contact but
it isn't likely that a person you met on line would be offering you ann expense paid trip to France to meet.
I hope you aren't using a RL profile or a skype account with your real info? |

The scammer is not white, and is not French. If "she" is showing you photos of a white person, then we are in scenario (a) above. The scammer is using stolen photos and video--odds are high it is of an internet porn chick. Do a google search of the photos you have, and you might be able to find the source. Josie Ann Miller is the most commonly, but by no means the only, woman whose photos are used.
As Capone said, in this format, the primary scammer is probably not even a woman (though as I said above, there is likely a woman in the gang.) |

Ok,
Like I said its strange to me.
I have had scammers before. As you said they usually put on a photo that is not real. Then go onto messenger. Declare their dying love for me and if only I can send them some money then they will marry me and live happily ever after!
But this one was a bit different. In some respects it was very amateurish. Lots of mistakes made on their part. But she was the girl who's photo was also on her profile.
Yes done a photo check and nothing came up.
In the end I told her this all sounds dodgy to me. She got upset and haven't spoken since.
I'm just intrigued how all of this works.
She has my mobile number, email address and I suppose my skype details although she set that up for me. |

Unless you actually physically met this "girl" in person then the person in the pictures is not the person you are talking to - video chats, pictures, etc can all be faked.
on camera? |

Perhaps I should do that. Besides. I have four cities in France to choose from and she's offered to pay my airfare! |
