On Sunday 14th September 2014, wife and I took a trip to Duxford Air Show in Cambridgeshire only 25 minute journey from home for us, 2 hours 20 minutes later we arrivied.
Collected a wheelchair for the wife and had a look in the Air/Space museum, all we had time for.

This is a photo of the museums Lancaster bomber (found being used as a chicken coop).

Consolidated PBY Catalina, 20 people have shares in this aircraft, one share is coming up for sale at £17, 000 ($23,800) commentator reckons it’s a bargain

Boeing 727 (Oil Spill Response aircraft) first time seen at Duxford for 18 years, the commentator was even taking photo’s

Westland Sea King (replacing one from day before which had a fault)

SOOI creeps in! Squirrel HT1, bringing the commentator for the red arrows display team

B17 taxing by and nobody is interested

3 heavy bombers, American B17, British and Canadian Lancasters, 2 Spitfires(one back of 2nd Lanc), a loudspeaker and man mountain (blocking camera views) to right

Now the wife has the bug for planes.

No pix, but I was at the Goodwood Revival Saturday and Sunday, we got the 2 Lancasters as well, along with a Spitfire & Hurricane. Definitely made the hairs stand up on the back of your neck!

When I was in Canada we went to Toronto air museum to see the Canadian Lanc, but just saw a gap where it wasn't, as it was away at an air show. Never thought I'd see it here, of course.

One of my brothers was at the air show, and when he was in Canada he had a ride in the Lancaster.

There was a party from Canada following the Lancaster around, wearing black Tour 2014 shirts.

Great pics! Looks like quite an event. I would love to have been there.

Speaking of Sally B, I finally got around to watching "Monuments Men" and saw it in the background of an early scene. But that scene was all wrong. the characters had just arrived in a C-47 transport, another C-47 was taking off in the background, with a few more behind that (probably CGI). But then they walked past a lone B-17 heavy bomber, with a Spitfire fighter behind. What WWII base housed transports, bombers, and fighters on the same base? And when would you ever see a single B-17? I know they were trying to give some vintage flavor to the scene but it was just wrong...

I'm sure they filmed the scene at Duxford.

And being obsessive, I noticed the tail number on the Sally B is that of the original Memphis Belle. Another disconnect.

Right hand side of Sally B has Memphis Belle on that side so the tail number would have to be same.
