Hey guys,

Seriously, it has been more than a month that I am in the scambaiting business and so far I managed to only successfully scambait one dude from Africa. (I got only two scams asking for a small fee upfront for the promised millions.)

I got him so mad that there were lots of curses at the end of the phone call (prepaid mobile registered on a random name.) The guy phoned from overseas and I always said I could not call him back because my phone provider blocked the calls automatically.

Anyway, besides that guy, I do not get any mails at all.

I registered on the mugu guest books, posted my harvesting-email all over the place on the internet. The various harvesting emails are posted in plain text easy to be picked up by the email crawlers. Nothing. All I get are penis enlargement and viagra pills adverts.

I think, now in 2014, there are more scambaiters than scammers and this is a disappointing state of things for a scambaiter who wants to have fun.

How can I get the scammers to come at me?

Welcome to Eater. Please note that there are scammers in every country in the world, not just in Africa. The stereotype is as incorrect as the conclusion that there are more baiters than scammers. Unfortunately the vlads, lads and everyone else since manage to scam millions for victims all over the globe.

You may want to think about signing up for a mentor. It's not mandatory but they can be of great help in handling your baits.

This isn't accurate, but say it were? Say that weren't lads to bait anymore. Ever.

I personally would celebrate, and help refocus Eater to something more important - namely, discussing the insidious evil that are penguins.

This. This so many times it's not even fun how many times it bears repeating. I apply to Eater the same philosophy I apply to various other volunteer works I do in real life: I dream of the day I'm not needed anymore. I dream of the day when I can lay down my tools and say "I'm done". I dream of the day I can walk into the proverbial sunset, giving expressive single digit to it all and start concentrating on enjoying myself and doing things only to benefit me, myself and I instead of being there for the others.

I don't seriously expect to see that day in my life. If there is infinite amount of anything in the world, it's people starting sentences with the words "hey, I was thinking if you could..." Rolling Eyes

Set a Catcher account;
set the autoresponder to something like "Thanks for your email, how do we go about this?" and mail as many lads in Surplus as you can from it.

In a couple of weeks you will be flooded with lads.

I second what SBAH said -- we Eaterites are not wired to turn a blind eye. If I run across a lad with multiple fake sites, I've been known to get positively rabid. Twisted Evil

Hang in there, JimS. Won't be long before you have more lads thrashing about than you can shake a stick at. Then you, too, will know that rabid feeling. And lots of lads will scream. A lovely sound, indeed!

I tend to not capture my own lads. I tend to put them off at surplus and scamwarners. Someone else did the work for me and the lads are free for the taking. Very Happy

Also as stated above, get a mentor. They can help you set up a catcher box. Regarding catchers it does take time however. Patience and one day you will have a catcher box full of lads offering you millions and spammers making inappropriate innuendos about your manhood. Laughing

Hi JimStanson, have you ever checked the trash or spam folder in your own persona email account? I find fun things to bait there too.

It might help you to decide what kind of lad you want to bait, then check Eater U under that type of bait.

Oh no worries, I've learned my lesson. I walked away already once. And if being gone for three years taught me anything, it was the feeling of seeing people all over the world being hurt by lads and me standing by, watching and trying to pretend it's not my concern, it's not my business any longer. And at the same time thinking I knew something that majority of the people reading the same news as I didn't know. Knowing I could do something if I wanted to. And feeling that I was a rat when I simply let it all happen and didn't use that knowledge for anything.

I see myself still walking away from here some day in the future when I get to the same point I got last time, becoming too tired and too jaded to continue. But unlike last time, I don't see myself staying away this time.

Have you set up a catcher account? If not, I recommend that you do. Smile

Also, applying for a mentor is a HUGE help.

If you think penguins are evil. what about those rabid drop bears. Very fearsome beasts and have a rotten habit of popping up when least expected and doing serious damage to their intended victim. Twisted Evil
