Way back in the day, before I was Paralegal Of Renown, I was Dental Assistant Of Renown. One poor 17-year old kid came in to have his wisdom teeth removed. I developed the x-rays and almost, well. Instead of 4 of them, one in each corner, he had not less than 16 under where each tooth was erupting. The total was 50+

Needless to say, he was referred to an oral surgeon. Shocked

I only had one wisdom tooth removed and that was about five years ago. When I was in the Air Force (back in the 80s) they didn't remove them, which they usually do. It had something to do with my bite and jaw alignment. So instead, they put in fillings for those wisdom teeth that had cavities. (NOTE: All four had come all the way through and straight).

Well, about five years ago, I lost one of those fillings, and my current dentist said the wisdom tooth had also cracked, and it wouldn't be smart to try to put in a new filling. My dentist didn't want to yank it as he says wisdom teeth are best left to the oral surgeons. So off I went to an oral surgeon to have it removed. Took him about 2 mnutes to yank it (after the novacine took effect).

I am also glad to report that I have all my teeth (except that one wisdom tooth which was removed).

^^^ Lucky!! I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was in the Air Force. It was not pleasant.

^^Sorry GT, it was creepy indeed. If it's any consolation, he wasn't in pain. He had no idea.

His parents got right on it, and after the surgery they decided caps were the way to go. Last I knew, he lost a few playing football. They had them all replaced. I shudder to think where he is now and how he's feeling. Crying or Very sad

Mine knows this and talks to me like a 5yr old. Probably so they don't have a repeat of the time I was yelling some choice swear words because of pain when something hit a nerve, and kept hitting it. Small office & my then 15yr old was in the waiting room, waiting for his turn to see the doc. He still likes to tease me about it. It hurt!!

That poor guy! I'm sure he's spent a lot of time in the dental chair over the years.

^I can deal with dentists. I just open my mouth and go into a Zen state. I detest novocain so I usually refuse it. It doesn't hurt if I don't let it. Smile

Now, on the other hand, gynecologists scare the crap out of me. Sorry if TMI, but before every checkup she has to dim the lights and let me chill out for a while to prevent my blood pressure from popping my head off.

I also detest clowns. Laughing

I don't like clowns either. The movie 'It' really sealed the deal for me on that one. 'They all float down here' - Pennywise. Creepiest clown ever.

My biggest fear, by far, is snakes. :shudder: They seem to find me everywhere. I've almost been bitten by ones of the poisonous variety too many times to count. Nothing without legs should be able to move that fast.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled years ago. One had developed a cavity, on its side. Turns out they all were coming in, sideways. My jaw wasn't big enough to handle them so they were forcing their way in, horizontally. After the surgery, every single tooth was loose for a month. Turns out the wisdom teeth had been putting so much pressure on the rest of the teeth they were all tilting and had to "slide" back and reset themselves vertically. It was a weird feeling.

^Yep, and the dentist pulled two bicuspids to make more room. It was another two years in braces and the rubber bands were a bitch. ::sigh::

As for snakes (how'd we get there?), I detest clowns more. One time while fishing, a nasty one (snake) fell off a tree into the boat. I quickly patterned that it was not a rubber worm and showed it my foot. It happened so fast that my fishing mate said, "Hey, what was that noise, and why is that cottonmouth swimming away?"
