As an aside: The glider patch was the perfect size to have a challenge coin sown in behind it. It was useful to apply, with vigorous force, upside the head of someone that needed their attention redirected while visiting some of the more prestigious establishments off post.

I still have the scars but it was fun at the time.

Someone should have taken his ass behind that van and given him a rigorous what for. Perhaps a marine talking to of manly cordial nature and a nick such as Private Snowball while they tune up his uniform. Twisted Evil

My grandfather served in the British Army during WWII, I have many friends who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I have a few friends who served in the IDF. My grandfather and I never talked about specifics but he did show me some war trophies (nazi flag, Hitler Youth knife, Nazi helmet, patches, etc) and while going through the attic after his death we found a few others that he never showed me. My friends in Afghanistan never talk about it and I know why. Guerrilla warfare is hell and that front was the definition of it. Iraq, about the most I got out of them was a story about going for a run outside of their base and suddenly coming under mortar attack. IDF friends, they live it daily. It is not a topic for discussion and we had other things to concern our time when I was over in Israel.

My take on it is this: unless you have lived it you have no clue how much they do not want to discuss it in depth and if you have lived it why the hell would you want to relive it by painting an ugly picture? With my grandfather I would have rather spent my time fishing or doing other things with him. What he would want to volunteer for a historical perspective to a grandson learning about the world around him, he would and on his own well-deserved terms. Other than that I don't need to know the finer details. My friends, we have other things to do as well rather than concentrate on the ugly they lived. There is a life to live afterwards.

That guy should be strung up by the short and curlies and beaten senseless IMHO.

I watched that video a few times and personally I saw a Man with what I suspected to be Mental Problems being Badgered. He held his own rather well in my opinion and for that I'm proud.

Am I proud he pretended to be a Big Ass Veteran? No of course not.

In the Town where I grew up there is a couple who Dress up in full Military Regalia (complete with Medals) and greet Tourists and just about anyone who walk down the Street. Should I Threaten to string them up because they didn't serve in the Boer War?

^I respectfully disagree OP. I did not do any research to try and find out whether the man had any medical problems. I can't tell from the video..I'm not a physician, so I'm not qualified to say.

If you did find proof..I would be happy to read about it.

Putting on a military uniform and claiming false service for benefit is illegal in the US.

^ I did no research and never alluded to any Crime being committed as I don't know what the Laws are in the US let alone where I live. I simply stated what I observed.

Big Ass Veteran refers to someone who has served their Country in a very Honourable Fashion during numerous campaigns and is just a bit of Northern colloquialism. My Father was a Big Ass Veteran as was my Great Grandfather. My Great Great Uncle not so much as he died on his first assignment in WW1 at the age if thirteen (Yeah that kind of stuff happened back in the day).

I was merely expressing my opinion on a Video as others did before me. Disagreeing with my opinion is what makes this Forum a fine place to hang out in as I love hearing from all sides.
