I, like many others, love movies. And I have many that are guilty pleasures. Everyone has them, you know, the ones you only watch when you're alone. I watched Overboard last weekend, 3 times, yes, let the ridicule begin. But it's a great movie in my opinion. Goldie Hawn really needs to come back to acting. Sweet Home Alabama is another, again, let the ridicule begin. But I would love to know what guilty pleasure movies you all have. Let's be honest folks, you know you have at least one. Laughing

Blade Runner & Pulp Fiction - I know every word, but would watch them again tonight if I was home alone (and not going out to watch a band).

I also have the rare honour of apparently being the only person on the planet (with the possible exception of Kevin Kostner) who enjoyed Waterworld, though I haven't seen it in years.

Not exactly a movie, but I can't watch even the first episode of Silver Fang without crying. Sometimes even the opening theme is enough to get me in tears. Far too many memories linked to that series, directly or indirectly, from childhood and from adulthood.

Damn it, now I need to go watch the whole series this weekend. Crying or Very sad

It's a Japanese anime series. I have no idea how popular it was / is in UK but it's still one of the more well known anime series. A fact which I learned only much later since as a kid I didn't even know what anime was, but regardless. Watching it as an adult much later I also learned why I became as disturbed as I did. Jeez, had I just believed mother and watched My Little Pony instead I could be a normal person today. Bah.

Youtube has the original uncut Japanese episodes uploaded and subtitled in various languages, English included. Search for "Ginga nagareboshi gin episode [insert number]".

@Duckling, I'll have to check that out.

I am realizing something now that I didn't expect. The term "guilty pleasure" with regards to movies must differ greatly based on your region. I could shout to the roof tops that I liked the movies, First Blood, Pulp Fiction, and Blade Runner in my area and everyone's reaction would be the same. "Of course you do, they are awesome movies." But if I were to do the same with movies such as, Brokeback Mountain, The Parent Trap(old and new), and Footloose. Most people would call me gay. Because, why wouldn't I choose my sexual preference based on my movie choices. Rolling Eyes

I was raised in the heart of Small Minded, USA. My movie choices are all over the board. I like every genre.

Growing up, it used to come on tv around Valentine's Day every year and I never missed it.

I never judge people for the movies they like. I cannot say that of the closed minded fools I grew up with. I love Singing in the Rain, Marry Poppins and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and I don't wear pink either, (in the words of Seinfeld) not that there's anything wrong with that.

Quite a few movies have been mentioned that I never fail to watch if they are on. Cool Hand Luke, Casablanca and Waterworld among them.

My DVR contains some of these classic (and not so classic) movies.

I forgot about Willy Wonka. My kids just watched the remake with Johnny Depp again a few days ago. Not a fan.

I have a hard time getting into almost any Tom Cruise movie. The only exception is Rain Man, Dustin Hoffman was excellent, Tom Cruise, not so much. I know most would disagree, but I'm not a big fan of his work.
