Not sure where to post this.. but my 84yr old Veteran Dad has been scammed and does not believe anyone that he is being scammed. 1 is an overseas lottery winner is sharing their millions with him. He has been contacted by (email) someone representing herself as a bank rep for "GE Capital Bank UK" and has told him that b4 they send him the money he needs to pay Tax Clearance on the money. He has sent a few thounsand already and always to a third person. I've put his bank on notice and they've talked to him with no luck. I've talked to him, I've even called the police over to my parents house with no luck as well! He's given out his home and cell number. This Female scammer now calls to sweet talk him out of his money, she has even given him her number (which is probably a prepaid phone) so that he can call her. I can't stop him! I need help stopping the scammer. The number she has given is +44 which is seems to be in UK. I've tried everything but because he still believes it, the bank can't stop him from throwing his money away. They have frozen a couple accounts of these 3rd person people my father wires money to due to fraud. HELP ME! |

Hi HelpVet, I'm really sorry to hear that your dad is being scammed. The best thing you can do is visit our sister site www.scamwarners.com. Here we bait the scammers and waste their time but at ScamWarners they offer the type of assistance you need and can try to help you with your Dad.
Also, that number he's been calling is a redirect number. It looks like it's in the UK but he's actually talking to someone in another country, probably Nigeria.

What do I need to supply to keep this scammer busy and to stop her from email/calling my dad and giving him directioins on contacting the bank of the 3rd person that has put a hold on the money he has wired. I have name and phone number and two emails addresses for the scammer. I can't figure out how to stop my dad from trying to contact this woman. B4 he stuffs cash in an envelope and sends it away. Any suggestions? I will also try "Scamwarners" |

No matter how busy you or anyone will make the scammer, you can be assured that if he (and it's almost certainly a "he") knows he has found someone who pays, then he will always be there to ask more money from your father.
The advice you have gotten so far is pretty much the best we can give you in here. Scamwarners has the expertise and the resources you need while we don't. |

Unfortunately, once a scammer has a paying victim, they aren't going to stop trying to get them to send all that they can. If you had copies of emails in addition to the email addresses, we could try to bait the scammer but since your dad is paying, it isn't going to stop the scammer from going after your dad.
The only real way your dad is going to hopefully see what is happening is proof. The professionals at ScamWarners will help you with that. They'll help you try to research the scammer to provide your dad with proof that this person isn't who they say they are. Maybe even showing examples of where the scammer has scammed other people.
ETA: Must type faster. |

^ good advice from the posters above.
Register and post any information you have on the scammer and their methodologies at Scamwarners.com. once there it can be cross referenced against previous fraud attempts. This may be the convincer your father needs.
If you aren't comfortable doing this, please send as much information you can to me in a private message and I will handle it as far as it is possible to do so. This will involve a post at SW but your personal information will not be made public; we only do that to scammers. Your privacy and that of your father will be respected completely. |
